I never knew Hartline was so valuble to the team. Newton has shown great progress and I feel the staff should stick with him. Hartline manages games, and with UK's backs and defense they won't win football games with that type of strategy.

What exactly has Newton accomplished? Going forward, he should end up being a really good QB at UK. Right now, your best option, if he is 100% healthy, is Hartline.

Newton, ride it out with him.

You could not be more wrong. What has Hartline done to prove that he is the best option at QB? Nothing! The only reason that Hartline was even starting is because Newton wasn't experienced and he was behind where they wanted him to be. Since then he has progressed and is apparently now ahead of where they expected him to be. It would make absolutely no sense for Rich Brooks to start Hartline over Newton simply because Newton needs to become familiar and comfortable playing in and against the SEC and doing that against Vandy, Georgia, and UT would really benefit him going into next season as the projected starter.

Newton can complete a pass over 15 yards. Hartline I feel like would rather dump it off four a two yard gain, than take a shot down field. JMO.

^^ that's what I think as well. If you're going to play conservative, I'd rather do it with a young guy and let him get his feet wet. We've seen what Hartline can do.

Does it really matter who starts? Can one of them hand the ball off better than the other?

Throwing 50 yard incompletions are...incompletions, checking down to your 3rd or 4th option for a 3-5 yard gain are positive yards. Just my opinion.

But wouldn't you agree that throwing down the field also would go towards opening the box for running plays? If you have a threat of going deep, the defense has to play honest.
