The Bengals dominated this game, particularly in the 1st half.

 

If you look at the stats, I'd imagine that you'll see some of the most lopsided numbers in the NFL.

This was supposed to be a statement game for the Bengals but the only statement I saw was from Ravens. If I were picking them today I dont think the Ravens will make the playoffs.

 

 

Why was it the Ravens made the statement, and not the Bengals? It wouldn't have anything to do with you being a Steelers fan would it? :lol:

I'm still not convinced...that Baltimore is as good as their hype. I'll admit that Flacco and that offense is better than I expected, but I still believe the defense has slipped. It's still capable of delivering some great performances (see Denver in a game they needed bad), but on a weekly basis, I think the Ravens defense can be exploited.

The Ravens Defense strength is also their biggest weakness, IMO.

 

Their strength is that they hit hard and play a physical brand of defense. I love watching it; however, they have to be one of the most penalized defenses in the NFL. They are extremely aggressive. It's a great brand of football to watch, but I think they're over-aggressive in some situations, and that costs them.

 

For example, the 1st Cincy matchup. They prolonged the Bengals' last drive & allowed them to score the game winning TD. Ray Lewis was quoted as saying that he'd hit Ochocinco if the same situation arose. I love the attitude, but that's stupid. It was a penalty and it cost them the game.

I just don't think they're as good as last year or previous years. They lost Rex Ryan and downgraded from Bart Scott to Tavares Gooden at ILB, and from McAlister and Rolle to Fabian Washington and Dominique Foxworth at corner. They also lost some quality depth with a couple of guys that followed Ryan to the Big Apple. And, the key players are getting some age on them...

They're not bad by any means. I don't see them as the consistently dominating group they have been, but they're still capable of playing great on any given week. They showed that against Denver.

 

I believe the departure of Rex Ryan really hurt. I'm not convinced that their current defensive coordinator is on par with the guys they've had in the past...Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan, and Rex Ryan...

You guys know Im definitely a Steelers fan but maybe I didnt explain myself well. The Bengals are a solid team that can beat anyone. Carson Palmer gains confidence with every play and is working his way back to pre injury form. I think they defintely make the playoffs at this point. The Ravens have played a couple solid games this year but this is not the same Ravens team. You can pass on them and now they can be dominated up front which in previous years just didnt happen. I didnt need a statement from the Bengals but for the Ravens to come out and lay an egg in a game they needed and wanted to win badly said a lot.
