November 8, 200916 yr Thats what ive been asking... does BK want to run a pro style offense or this current system with the mobile QB. I think he can win either way obviously but a pro style offense would help with recruiting down the road. BK's style is run what best suits the talent on hand...

I think he can win either way obviously but a pro style offense would help with recruiting down the road. Just asking, but on what basis? UF recruits great and runs the spread, Texas and OU run versions of the spread and recruit well, Oregon recruits well, Rich Rod recruits well at UM. I don't buy that you have to run a pro style offense to recruit well.

I don't buy that you have to run a pro style offense to recruit well. All of the programs above you listed have a foundation. UC is still laying the foundation and have lost many recruiting wars to OSU and ND. BK has the ability to run a pro system like USC. I believe it would give them local and national recruiting power.

Is going to help them in the local and national recruiting levels, more so than what type of offense they run.

My apologies :thumb:. But, I don't think that UC is a title threat running a pro-style offense either. Pro style teams have to be able to line it up and just beat you do death with it. The spread allows for more space for the athletes, and allows the defense to never be correct on the read plays. That said, Boise has had success with a "pro-style" system, so maybe UC could as well.
November 9, 200916 yr UC is still laying the foundation and have lost many recruiting wars to OSU and ND. How do you lose recruiting battles you never had a chance in to begin with until now???
November 9, 200916 yr Author How do you lose recruiting battles you never had a chance in to begin with until now??? They were in the Orange Bowl last year (as you know) and that didn't help recruiting this year when it should have with the Cincy talent. I thought Combs was going to bring the Cincy guys in not just Goodman.
November 9, 200916 yr They have landed a lot of very high level talent in a loaded 2010 class in the city. P. Brown, D. Brown, Chenault, Tentman, Black, Hudson, Smith and Schloemer. All 3 stars except the 4 star Smith who still has not backed off his verbal after flirting with a ton of other programs. If I had a pick of QBs in the city I would have taken Caleb Watkins who is headed to the MAC because UC took Massa (which is directly related to trying to land Matt James). How is that not improving over what they have been doing in the past? Every one of those recruits I mentioned would have landed at a BCS school and that school is now UC...

The are recruiting better but you know as well as I do they have had guys like Ashley, Rudolph, Welch, Hendrix (who I know you don't like) Posey, Hicks, Ware... play home high school games at Nippert and never really gave UC a look. I just think they gotta keep more of the elite talent home, BK is good enough to coach it.
November 9, 200916 yr BK's style is run what best suits the talent on hand... That is truly the mark of a great coach.....

I'd take Pead over Ashley every day of the week, so that one turned out just fine. Smith and Welch are a wash so if Smith does sign also a wash. Rudolph and Posey would have been awesome, but they simply weren't on that level yet at that point. I don't like Massa at the next level as much as I don't like Hendrix so also a wash IMO. JK Schaffer and Brandon Mills are making a big impact already as are Ohio guys like Collaros and DJ Woods from that 2nd class. If you look at the guys on the field making plays you will notice most of them are from the first 3 recruiting classes under BK with a few holdovers also playing big roles like Pike, Gilyard, Revels, Webster and Linkenbach. Recruiting talent has not been a problem for BK at all so far even if a few of the bigger name local kids still choose to move away from home...

Your clearly right BK can make the most with what he has. I just think if he had the kinda talent they do at ND he is going to win championships. Pead was an OSU recruiting screw up.... we'll call it even for say Posey :thumb:
November 9, 200916 yr At a place like ND there is no doubt in my mind that BK would win multiple national titles. Hell he's in the mix now in only year 3 here with a BCS game in year 2. He's that good, and there is no doubt about it IMO. Even trade. I'll take it...
