Urban Meyer complains that officials missed late hit on Tim Tebow

Featured Replies

"That should have been a penalty, in my opinion," Meyer said. "Obviously, it should have been. You've got to protect quarterbacks. That's the whole purpose. It's right in front of the referee. I'm not sure how they're going to handle that, but ... that was one of the plays we did send in."

Apparently you just protect quarterbacks not players eyes who are being gouged out.. He's the biggest hypocrite I've ever seen.

After suspending Spikes for a half I'll never take anything he says seriously again.

While I agree with you (the suspension for 1/2 of the Vandy game is probably less than a player would get for being late for a bedcheck at many schools), but I found it interesting that the UGA player didn't feel he should be suspended at all. However, I do believe that Spikes got less than he deserved for this one.

Kind of distasteful, Tebow isn't hurt is he? Wonder if the SEC will do anything about it? Aren't they cracking down on coaches complaining about calls?

I don't see them doing anything to the coach over this complaint. Granted, he did not bring it up, but he did complain about a non call as opposed to what the SEC appears to want from their coaches "No comment." It will be interesting to see if he gets anything for this. My money says nope.

I agree. It doesn't really warrant anything like a suspension, IMO. I just wondered what they would say.:thumb:

Are people going to turn everything that comes out of this program into a big deal next year when they aren't as good?

That depends on how big of a deal the program wants to make it.

If they keep gouging eyes then complain about a no call then absolutely. Young unwillingness to see that Florida is not perfect is quite laughable.

Laugh it up then, TBWC, can you point out more than that incident that Brandon Spikes has done that makes him hateable? I can see where people think Urban's a jerk, he runs up the score, runs his mouth and yes, he did cry his way into the title game in 06. But Brandon SPikes only gouged Wushaun Ealey's eyes on one play. And he didn't even think it was a big deal, so why should you and others that dislike UF simply because they're good, harp on this crap.

1. You know for a fact that this is the 1st time he's ever done this before, because I highly doubt that.

2. Of course a player isn't going to cry about it, he's going to act tough and take it upon himself to do what he can, not the SEC officials nor anyone else.

3. I don't hate UF because they're good, that is dumb IMO, I dislike them because of their coach and what he lets his players get by with.

I'm so tired of hearing about Florida. They find a way to make the headlines all week every week!

Most teams do when they win.

That hasn't entirely been the case this year.
