I am thinking that the frosh talent for both CCH and HHS, coupled with the new (and improved) coaching staff at CCH, add up to a renewed rivalry between HHS and CCH at the varsity level in a couple years.

Does the Shumate boy play hoops? He looks very tall and played very well the other night. Seems like a nice athlete.

Oh Sorry....After rereading your post I think I know what you meant. To answer your question, No...it is not usual to have a Freshman play up on JV and not play Freshman as well. My personal opinion is that these 2 kids play Freshman again next year. Nick True reminds me of a little Sean Sester in build at the same age. We all know that Sean Sester ending up playing line in college as well as High School. I think Nick True gets moved to the interior line next year...My 2 cents!!!

That depends on where they want those players to play and where they will develop the best. If it happens there is a very good soph/junior end that would lose reps to True or vice versa, it makes a lot of sense for True to get his reps on the freshman team. What if they want these guys to play a different position than what they played this year? A year of experience as a freshman would probably be better than throwing them to the wolves in a new position on JV. It just depends on the circumstances and I am sure the excellent staff at HHS will put them where it is best for them and the program.

True may be the size of a man but he still isnt fully mature and who knows if he will be next football season. You make those decisions when the time comes. There is a lot of talk about him moving up to JV Basketball too. Should he be dominating at the 8th grade level? No but sometimes moving kids up just so they can practice with older kids and sit the bench during games doesnt always help in development and certainly doesnt sound like fun.

 

I think physically these two could move up and play JV but another year of reps as Frosh would make them that much better with confidence. Voice of Reason makes a good point about the depth chart at the soph/jr level next year and where they may fit in.
