Grammar/Spelling

Featured Replies

Simple rules that too many do not follow:

Do not use an " ' " when making a word plural unless you are also showing possession. So, its not "most school's have teachers" or "liberal's are evil."

It's not "your a terrible official."

It's not "he prolly wasn't born in the U.S."

It's not "we was playing."

Yes, it's a soapbox I'm on.

Clyde has a great point, and it's something that bothers me as well.

I find myself skimming / skipping a lot of posts where the grammar / spelling is atrocious.

Besides, poor grammar violates Rule 13 (I think) on BGP.

I'm in the same boat. It is pretty annoying to be honest.

If nothing else when I am posting, I like to make sure I have spelled everything correctly and used at least respectable grammar.

My only bad habit is an overuse of the ellipses, but I think it's because my mind wanders so much that I actually think "..." in my head and my brain continues on to another thought.

Just a quick note here:

Make sure that you are not personally pointing out anyone's mistakes. Although we are rather vigilant about Rule 13, that is a mod's job, and no one else’s. We also recognize there are certain times when good members have typos and our intent is not to penalize people for simple mistakes rather ensure a general standard is adhered to so that a post can be read and understood without difficulty.

I guess I could say that I am definitely guilty of the (...) as well.

Same here.
