October 22, 200916 yr There is a light bulb at a fire station in Livermore, California that hasn't been turned off since 1901. It still burns today. I could be mistaken but I think light bulbs were originally designed never to burn out. If you don't ever turn a light out, it will never truly extinguish on its own. From what I understand.

October 22, 200916 yr The light bulb thing reminds me of a story when the iron curtain came down. Before that happened light bulbs were government issued and lasted for years. They started complaining after buying commercial bulbs and they burned outs so much quicker.

I actually just did the math and came up with 31,710 years to reach one trillion. Well, not exactly one trillion, but 1,000,006,560,000. Did I do this right? 60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours = 86,400 seconds per day 86,400 seconds per day x 365 (# of days in a year) = 31,536,000 seconds per year. 31,536,000 would be the # of seconds in a year, right? 31,536,000 seconds x 31,710 = 1,000,006,560 Yes, I'm procrastinating from doing real work...
October 22, 200916 yr Let me tell you, with 5 females (yikes!) in my house, we go through TONS of TP. There is a bathroom off the kitchen that everybody uses and I kid you not, sometimes I replace the roll in there twice daily. It is ridiculous! I'm getting ready to just get everybody their own corn cob like they used in the olden days! :lol: And fish scales too, in all likelihood.
