October 16, 200917 yr Ugghh... I've been the last 2 years, so going back to watching on TV is dreadful...
October 17, 200917 yr So were they not having a dunk contest or was that what the layup lines were for?

October 17, 200917 yr I was wondering that, as well. I thought they were having one. I know, total bummer. I was really anticipating Wall getting sick with it, but he did throw down some nice ones in the layup lines. Also was looking forward to seeing Bledsoe, Liggins, and Cousins throw down. Normally big guys aren't that fun to watch in a dunk contest, but like Dwight Howard, Cousins is so athletic he can dunk like hes a guard.
October 17, 200917 yr When Coach Cal gave a shout out to Hodgenville my viewing party ERUPTED and my phone possibly set a record for most texts in a 45 second span!
October 17, 200917 yr Patterson started out beast like. He was grabbing anything and everything off the boards, Had a couple nice tip dunks as well. Its obvious Pat is going to have another spectacular season, because as they alluded to, Pat is the hardest worker on the team and perhaps college hoops. The San Francisco trip really helped Orton and him like a dream. Pat was already unreal, but after the chameleon training he transformed his game even more. He will give opposing defenses nightmarish matchips, especially with Cousins or Orton down with some help. Also with Harrelson's ability to shoot the ball from deep as he showed tonight, that will also make Pat's life easier down in the paint. I think a key thing for Kentucky this year is going to be how many matchup problems they will cause their opponets. Front court and back court. Wall is simply amazing as expected. He is just so quick with the ball, and can squirm in through the lane practically every time. His mid range also looked pretty good tonight, which is crucial in this offense as he will be able to pull up off the drive. Josh Harrelson, what about the big boy. Gua he was burning the nets tonight. We saw flashes of that last year, but with Gillespie critiquing your ever move its easy to see why he was at times inconsistent at best. With Cal's approach of letting the players play I think we see Harrelson turning into a serious outside threat, and him coming out on the perimeter is going to open things up nicely for the guards to take it to the rack, or for Pat, Orton, and Cousins. Bledsoe looked a little nervous tonight, but he will be just fine. You got to think, technically this is the first team practice of the season. Still a lot of work to do, but plenty of time to do it, and with enough talent on the floor to get away with a slower learning curve. Me and one of my buddies were talking last week, and he was just raving about Bledsoe and how much he loved his game and how much he was over looked, He even made a Ty Lawson comparison in which now I am starting to see a lot. Once he gets rolling I expect for him to be about the same type of guard Lawson was for the Heels. Both extremely quick, both doing about the same things. All and all, entertaining as expected, just need to work the kinks out. But, they have a little over a month to do so, and I'm sure a lot of two a days are in the near future. Hopefully the recruits visiting were in awe as much as the Big Blue faithful. It really was an unforgettable atmosphere tonight as it was almost just a celebration of Kentucky basketball. Bringing to life the past, the now, and looking ahead to the future. Go Big Blue.
