No Christmas Tree at the White House

Featured Replies

I don't look at it as a deal that adds to the national debt or anything like that. I also said that I have been GUILTY of not having a Christmas tree. From all the stuff one can get from TV or the internet who knows what to believe anymore. I'm not a fan of politicians period. Yes, there is a left wing and a right wing. Fact of the matter...its the same bird !

IMO our opinions are minimal.

Very nicely put!

For the record, if it weren't for my daugter putting it up every year, I wouldn't have a Christmas tree any year. I abhor putting it up and taking it down. I like it for a few days when it's up, but then I'm over it. Does that make me less of a Christian? In the overall scheme of things, it's not even a religious tradition. What does having a Christmas tree, or not having one have to do with whether you feel the significance of Christmas? I doubt Jesus or God would have an issue if I didn't have a tree, as long as I believed that the day was set aside to honor the birth of our Savior. Heck...for that matter, December 25th is most likely not even the date of Jesus' birth!

I understand your point, but that doesn't mean others won't feel that the tree is as much a part of the celebration as the Nativity to them.

Usually all it takes is a little digging to get at the truth of the matter. I did that digging and you have yet to note that your man's opinion was wrong. :isurrender:

Hatz I respect your opinion but truthfully, it's not Christmas and nobody is right or wrong at this moment. Now if you have your tree up I appreciate your spirit and Merry Christmas to you.

So, what else has your "source" told you? What makes you think that he is correct?

I don't really picture this guy as internet guru. I'm not saying he never uses it but he don't strike me as that type. My guess is if he was on the internet and researched. His feelings might be different. I guess we will all know soon enough.

Wait...he "feels" that there won't be a Christmas tree?

My source is an old baptist preacher. I never said he was correct. If you read the post I said I find it hard to believe. I do believe he believes what he said. As I said previously, he don't strike me as the kind of guy that spends alot of time on the internet researching his statements. Most preachers I know read the bible more than the internet.

He has told me that God will forgive me of my sins if I ask. Which I have to do way to much. Now that statement I do believe.

I know what you mean. Just the other day someone told me that Obama was being impeached. However, the original message was my momma was going to the beach.

Thats A good one there.

You already mentioned what his profession was, though I don't understand how that qualifies his opinion. How does being a preacher qualify him to know about White House policy, particularly if he doesn't research anything?

You mentioned that he believes what he believes. People "believe" many things that are wrong.

Unless you have anything else, this is nothing more than the imagination of someone not in any way or shape in the "know."

I now know where you stand and that is noted. As far as in the know with what happens at the White House. Don't know if anyone on Bluegrasspreps qualifies for that one. I do know a lot of folks that make mistakes but mean well.

Many posters on BGP are well read and knowledgeable in politics. You have not proven the case that your source has knowledge of politics or the inner workings of the White House. If you chose to continue to believe him, that's certainly up to you, but in your own words it's not based on anything factual.

B&G read the post. I never said I believed him. Said I find it hard to believe.

Many posters are very knowledgeable. I personally have learned a lot from reading the post myself. Hatz is one that is way above me when it comes to this topic.

You are just looking for an argument that has no legs.

I'm not looking for an argument. P/R is a debate and discussion forum and that is what most of us do here.

I am curious, though. If you don't believe what he is saying, then I am missing the point of your thread. Please enlighten me.

Have you ever spoken with a person and wonder where that comes from ? I see this person for about 20 minutes 3 or 4 times a month for the last 8-10 yrs.

I believe this acquantance to care for people. Would truly do right by anyone that crossed his path. As they say, he would give you the shirt off his back.

I deal with the public six days a week for 55-60 hours. This probably happens to me more than most. I hear things and wonder...

Might have posted just to see what the BGP'ers think.

When it comes to Washington, nothing surprises me. I have lost a lot of faith in everyone there.
