gold sunrise Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 What does Trinity (Louisville) need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
loubballfan Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) I would expect Trinity could surprise some people this year and move up from their BGP ranking at 8th place in the 7th region. Return the top player in the 7th in Josh Sewell with another impact player in 6'5" Taylor Epley. Should have a solid supporting cast with Daniel Corbett, Chancellor Armstrong, Charles Foster and some other quality players in the mix. Edited October 9, 2009 by loubballfan
fullcourt Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Trinity will be better than many think. I agree Sewell is tops in the 7th but I would go as far to say the top player in Louisville and top five in the state. He just needs to play within himself and not try to do it all. Eply will be big time for Trinity this year he is a very strong kid that plays hard on both ends. I believe the point guard position will actually be better than last year; Corbett takes care of the ball and makes better decisions with the ball and is a tenatious defender. He won't look to shoot first, he will see the open player and get the ball to them. As long as they don't get into foul trouble, they will be tough for anyone to beat.
MBKT Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Josh Sewell and the Eple kid will be a very strong one, two punch. Add in a couple of solid returning players and a sophmore class that went undefeated as freshman (beating all the 7th region teams, Scott County and Lexington Catholic). Trinity will surprise some folks this year and the next couple of years.
tcjkbt Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I saw Josh Sewell a few days ago and he looks taller and stronger than last year. He goes a legitimate 6'5", I would think. He's going to Miami, Ohio, I believe. I agree that losing freshman PG Harrison will not be not be as bad as one might think.

Add in a couple of solid returning players and a sophmore class that went undefeated as freshman (beating all the 7th region teams, Scott County and Lexington Catholic). Trinity will surprise some folks this year and the next couple of years. Eply is a strong player and a hard worker. Plays a tough consistent game, and can really shoot the 3. Along with Sewell, who is obviously a player as he has already recd an offer and committed to Miami of Ohio, Trinity will be a power to be dealt with. Both are improved from last year. So look for Trinity to make some noise. Add in the other returning players and some lower classmen, which are coming along in their skills and look out!
passtheball Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Trinity will be a strong contender in the 7th, but they will still need to get out of their district. They will have some really tough games against Seneca and Ballard. Ballard will be much more athletic than Trinity and Seneca matches up well with Trinity. Trinity needs to be the number one seed this year because the 2 and 3 seed will be a tough game this year.
loubballfan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Agree that this may be the toughest district in the state and it will be key to get that number 1 seed, although Waggener won't be a pushover! I think Trinity has the ability this year with their personnel to put in a lineup where they will be much more athletic than they have been in the past.

The only thing they have is Jamari. They looked pretty bad this past summer.

I did not see Trinity play last year, but I don't see how they would be better without Harrison. I have seen him play a few times and was impressed each time.
wildcatfan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I think he hurt their team more than help last year the one time I saw him play. He had several more turnovers than assists, and he did not shoot well and took several questionable shots. I remember him shooting an awful lot and being pulled out of the game by the coach. I think they will play better as a team with Corbett at point this year. Very smart guard who plays great team ball. He ran the offense better last year in the game I saw.
imsosilly Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Ballard beat Trinity last year by 27 and 36. Trinity still has a long way to go before being talked about as a #1 seed.
loubballfan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Trinity WAS the #1 seed in district two years ago. Agree they need to pick it up against Ballard this season

I think that Remy Abell of Eastern is best player in the 7th. Saw him alot this summer and he really had his stock rise with the college coaches this summer.
