On top of that, HT721 is exactly right. UK just has to keep winning football games. We need to keep winning bowl games and keep the momentum going forward. UK doesn't have the tradition to absorb a bad season or two like a speed bump the way traditional powers like Michigan and OSU can...they need to keep it going and keep attracting better recruits. There are guys who will choose a rising program like UK because it offers them an opportunity to play earlier in their career. That's why they need to keep winning.

 

My question is do you really consider UK a rising program? Do you think you can consider UK a rising program if they keep doing what they have been doing by being horrible in the SEC East,barely being over .500, and going to bowl games that most people wouldn't care about if your not a fan of that team? Maybe so, but it's like to old adage about the runt of the litter not being strong enough to get to anything but hind teat, where the smallest amount of milk comes out. There may indeed be some great players in the leftover category, but not enough to push UK into the top tier -- which is what it should be striving for (but doesn't appear to be).

 

Well this "runt" has won something like 26 straight non-conference games, right? I believe that's good for either the longest or 2nd longest streak in the nation.

Both Mossakowski & Newton will play as Kentucky Wildcats. I feel very confident about that. Coming off of shoulder surgery, Mossakowski knew that he was going to have an uphill battle to play this year.

 

Newton's father is a huge ambassador for the program and he is also a very bright kid. I think both (Moss & Newton) are in for the long haul.

I'm happy with status quo. Sure, I'd love to win a few more games per year and beat Tenn, South Carolina AND Florida. But the facts of the matter are that Kentucky's in-conference schedule is absolutely brutal. #1 Florida 2 weeks ago, #3 Alabama last week & now we have to travel to #25 South Carolina.

 

If Kentucky wins another game or two in conference, then they are a presence on the national scene. It's not far away. We're building the depth required to compete in the SEC and I don't think it's too much longer until we begin to compete with the big boys. Until then, I'll continue to take 6 - 7 win seasons (against Louisville, a local team or two, and a patsy) and represent the SEC well as a middle-of-the-pack SEC team in a bowl game against another conference's runner-up. :thumb:

They have a fast defense which would do well in the SEC but also have an offense to go with it. So if they were in the SEC and doing well they would be getting really recognized even more as being one of the best teams.

They ended up getting a guy who was able to bring the program up even further, and I don't think that would have happened under Danatoni. I think the same case could happen here at UK, and that Brooks did a great job getting this program to here. However I think UK if they went elsewhere after he retires instead of Joker. They could possibly find a guy who could get this program up even more and maybe actually able to compete in the SEC East and beat teams other than Vandy.

I'm not arguing with your whole point. I will say this though. Alabama and UF would destroy Cincy. That's not a slight, they would do that to many very good teams. Cincy isn't on the same athletic level as teams in the SEC. They have some good athletes, and certainly Kelly is as good a coach as most in the SEC. They would still be a good team, but IMO, they wouldn't be a real threat to get to the MNC game.

No, you do not have to announce it. They can redshirt as long as they do not take a snap. UK will have them dress "just in case" but they will not play. My guess is Fidler will be the only other qb to take a snap this year barring injuries.

I did not know that. I thought it was like in college hoops where you usually see an announcement regarding those things right around the time the fall semester ends.

I am a SEC guy, however what teams are UC not on the same level as? I mean I would give you Florida. However I do not agree that Alabama would destroy UC at all. I am not buying into the Alabama hype, just like I didn't buy into it last year. I mean UK actually had a chance against them, but UK shot their ownselves in the foot. Alabama's offense is not that great, so I think UC defense would hold them in check or at least not let them score a lot. While UC has the offense that they can score on Alabama. I mean I have seen before where you have said your not that big on UC from what happened to them against Virginia Tech in a bowl game. So then why you so high on Alabama after what happened to them against Utah if you want to use last year to judge a team? Alabama doesn't seem like they do to great with teams that are fast and have high scoring offenses. Besides Florida who in the SEC even has that great of an offense? Alabama is very good, but I don't think they are as good as people are making them out to be. I think we will see that when they play Florida as long as Tebow is 100 percent by then.
