Not really. How much do you really, really think he's going to get beyond the $17m guaranteed? The rest of it is just window-dressing to feed Crabtree's ego. Players rarely get anything beyond the guaranteed portion of their initial contract.

If he's strictly looking at it from the pocketbook standpoint, I suppose. But I equate that to the win I feel when I have a .50-off coupon on a $10 item. I just don't see how it was worth it to go through all that for an extra mil, especially considering it essentially will cost him his entire rookie season, and (what should be, if the 49ers have a spine) most of that mil back in fines for holding out.

That's how it is, but it's a stupid system. Crabtree shouldn't get punished because Al Davis is an idiot. The 49ers had to know the kind of money Crabs would want. If they didn't want to pay it they shouldn't have drafted him.
