October 3, 200917 yr They need to quit circling and dive in there. It's time. Seriously, he is just in way over his head. Hasn't beat a d1 school in a long time, the team looks out of place and unorganized. Just flat out pathetic. I agree. Krags seems like a decent man with good principals but he is really in over his head at U of L. They just did not look ready to play.
October 3, 200917 yr Have the additions to Papa Johns stadium started? With play like this, they'll have trouble selling those extra seats and lux boxes and or suites.
October 4, 200917 yr I was once a die hard Louisville football fan but now i dont even watch a game just plain terrible. Fire Kragthorpe now Louisville ad and save what little man hood Louisville football has left.
October 4, 200917 yr Have the additions to Papa Johns stadium started? With play like this, they'll have trouble selling those extra seats and lux boxes and or suites. They've more than started... I'd say its probably 40-50% done.
October 4, 200917 yr I've taken a couple days to wait and process what happened Friday night. The picture I'm seeing after standing back and observing isn't much prettier than the one I saw when I was in that moment. It was like a bad movie. Pittsburgh scored the touchdown that put them ahead 28-10 in the fourth quarter and, looking around the stadium, several thousand people stood up, walked to the aisle and slowly descended toward the exits. Now, to be certain, Louisville fans are notorious for leaving en masse in the fourth quarter, whether or not the game is actually out of hand. But something felt different about this; the game had been building to that point. Before the game began, I saw a guy in the bathroom wearing a paper bag over his head with eye-holes cut out and "Krag Bag" written over his face. I didn't think much of it at the time as that's something other fan bases have done and it was just a cliched disgruntled fan move. Then Pittsburgh rolled down the field for a quick touchdown to start the third quarter and a group to my right unfurled a full section-wide banner that read "Two Things Come From Oklahoma... not a Coach." People around it stood and cheered. As Pittsburgh continued to score, the groans grew louder. The guy sitting next to me admitted that he hadn't been watching since the start of the fourth. So when that fourth quarter touchdown happened, the stadium's occupants seemed to understand at once. It wasn't a pretty sight. Kragthorpe will not last beyond the season. That much seems to be certain. If it's not, it should be. Jurich may be standing behind Kragthorpe, but he's also a smart guy. He can sit in his suite at those Louisville games, watching the massive steel structure rise over the eastern side of the stadium with all those suites and 20,000 new chairs to fill next season. Kragthorpe will not help him sell those seats; that much he knows. Kragthorpe will not help the Cards win games; that much the fans know. The scenario is a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point. People have written the outcome of this season in stone only four games into the schedule. It's less a matter of "What might happen next game?" than "How much longer can we tolerate this coach and these losses?" Noone is questioning the criteria for a turnaround... they're just checking their watches.

The first part of your sentence is in-validated by the latter....you are a fair weather fan...and that's ok....you just aren't allowed to call yourself diehard.

It's easy for spoiled fans, who rarely cared about Louisville, to again jump up and voice dis-pleasure for something they only cared about to get to basketball season....I'm not saying you're that guy, but relax, the horses aren't there....give a man four years, unless you can name the savior right now.
October 5, 200917 yr ^ All I did was write down what I observed on Friday night. If you didn't see the same thing, then your blinders obscure even more than theirs. I don't have the first idea of where Jurich might find a savior; I wouldn't want that job even for his paycheck. All I know is that he can't possibly be excited about the idea of opening up a 20,000-seat expansion full of blue shirts on opening weekend next year, then to see it empty for the remainder. I don't think he needs a savior for next season, but from a business standpoint, he needs someone that can draw a crowd. If this season continues as it has, there will be a lot of open seats up there in 2010.
October 5, 200917 yr As someone who used to sit in the crunch zone during the Cooper days and watch teams like Penn State come to town and just flat whip us and to watch where the team went in over the next two coaching staffs tells me it can be done at Louisville. I truly believe Louisville could play for the national title. They are in a conference that the can win and still have the freedom to schedule some games to put them back on the map. I have watched 4 games this season. The first game was a scrimmage and I accepted the fact eveyone was trying to get the kinks worked out. UK game I seen a bunch of improvement from the week before and even last season. The offense was able to be productive and score points. On top of having several players that can make plays. Defense was the issue that everyone knew it would be. Utah game the cards played well enough to win, but had to many turnovers and miscues. The second half of that game I thought they were back on track. Now the Pitt game, I have to admitt I didn't get to watch the first half. Was able to listen to it on the radio. But I did watch the 2nd half. I thought the Cards took steps backwards. I feel the played uninspired football. This won't get them another win playing like this. I truly believe they have to win 3 of the next four. Souther Miss @Uconn @Cincy Arkansas State That would put them at 4-4 with a chance to win 6. I don't think they deserve a bowl at 6-6. But anything less than 6-6 I would be in favor of a change. WIth 200 bowl games now not going to a bowl game is unacceptable. But I will say Tom Jurich is to blame for making Krags keep the hold over coaching staff.
October 5, 200917 yr I once told the New York Yankees bashers..."its still early in the season". Wait until its ended. Any time a team goes to a back up QB who has never played D-1 it isn't a good thing. Even though I saw some bright spots for him. Don't say something you might feel silly for later. My church team was once down 13-1 in a Bluegrass games softball game, we won 15-14. Don't give up.

A couple weeks ago I would have said they would struggle with Southern Mississippi. However, they lost their starting QB from a potent offense for the season and now have to start a former walk-on. They should get that one. @ UConn is certainly winnable. @ Cincy. Umm... no. Arkansas State. Just lost to Iowa (top 25 team) by 3 points. Not a gimme like some may believe.
October 5, 200917 yr I am a long time fan of UofL football, and they just have flat out been pathetic under Kragthorpe. There is no getting around it, there is no sense in acting like things are going to get better, just give him time. He walked into a gold mine, he didn't walk into a bad program. That's a fact people, those kids left because they didn't like Kragthorpe when he got here. This team is so unorganized. Penalties, not getting plays called on time, blown coverages, bad tackling, putrid special teams. Just horrible place kicking, they are afraid to try a fg outside of 30 yards. That is unacceptable. The team looks like they are lost, and only one person can be blamed, that's why the Head Coach gets the big bucks. They have to be RESPONSIBLE... win, lose or draw. Kragthorpe seems like a good man, but he is just no cut out for the job. Who cares if they do win 5 or 6 games at this point, what's that really worth in the Big East? It's time for a change, the program has went from a media darling, and a team capable of upsetting anyone to a program that is ranked in the 80's-90's in recruiting, barley get on TV anymore, and haven't beat a D1 program since last October. Heck, aside from the UK haven't really even came close. Personally, I'd like to see another ex-Tulsa coach get a shot at the job. Gus Malzahn...

I saw that Ark St/Iowa game score scroll across the bottom Saturday night and said:ohbrother: UC will get revenge for some of those beatdowns they took from UofL this year, that game might get real ugly.

Heck, aside from the UK haven't really even came close. They are ranked 61 at this point in recruiting, and I expect for that to rise before signing day...also, they kick FG's longer than 30 yards, and lastly, the plays have been called in a timely fashion.
