It's funny to me that someone I thought had a really good grip on the NFL thinks its ok to run 2 plays and use a TO in a little over 1 minute needing to go 85 yards in 3 minutes. I'm almost shocked that you think it's ok.

I'm not saying I liked the Dolphins play calling in those situations. What I am saying is that, like it or not, it put them in a position to win the game and Ted Ginn, Jr. dropped a pass he should have caught. The Dolphins are not built nor equipped to play the hurry up and catch up game.

 

I didn't mind the run plays early in the drive as much as the lack of urgency between plays. Wasting a timeout in that situation, after letting the play clock run down is unacceptable. That cannot happen...you have to get the play in regardless of how good or bad of a call it turns out to be. I'm guessing that one falls on the OC (or Pennington possibly, but I doubt it).

 

I also thought the QB sneak on 3rd and 1 was a poor call. With the clock stopped and two downs, I think you need to pass on third down and attempt to get the first down and out of bounds. They could have used the sneak on fourth down.

 

But, the Dolphins coaches know their team better than I do, and the end result was a very catchable ball in the end zone to the team's #1 WR. Ultimately, that's what you want. He just didn't make the play.

This is the NFL when you win your division and have most of the key parts coming back excuse me for not thinking you're "rebuilding". It was terrible game and clock management from the coaching staff at the end of both halves. There is no excuse for it.

 

Anyone who thought last year was "reality" was fooling themselves.

 

It was fluke and a year when "all the stars aligned" for the Dolphins (see Brady go down, see Jets/Favre implode, see the Bills be the Bills). Anyone who was watching knew the above, coupled with a last place from the year before schedule and catching some off guard was the formula for winning in '08.

 

That formula doesn't exist this year. Division winner schedule, Healthy Brady, revamped Jets and Bills all lead to a year that most experts did not believe Miami could make a run this year. They might and I pray that they do but we are Game 2 of year 2 in a severe rebuilding project. Give it time. :thumb:

If you mean he's catching more balls, fine. He's a great fantasy league guy.

 

If you mean he makes tough catches, I'll disagree. He cost them 2 TDs last night.

Could have caught it, but he was bumped and held a little. It was a catch he probably should have made. It doesn't excuse the fact that they should have had more time on the clock than they did.

 

More time or not, they were in a position to win that football game last night, and Theodore blew it. You can't blame the coaches for that.

I never said it was a bad move to run the ball in that situation, but to run 2 plays and use a TO all while burning 1:13 off the clock is terrible. Assign blame wherever you want , but ultimately the coach is in control. The play to Ginn didn't seem to me to be the call. I think he broke the route up field after Pennington got out of the pocket. It wasn't nearly as easy of a catch as people are saying.

If it was the Titans I think you'd have a different view. Nor could Miami overcome the strange clock management during its final drive on offense that would burn 47 seconds off the clock as confusion with what personnel groupings should have been on the field still resulted in a timeout being called.

I wasn't telling you anything, merely asking you what you meant. And from the sound of things, I was dead wrong. And I don't think it's very nice to make fun of somebody with a learning disability. I've had dyxlexcia ym entire life.
