September 22, 200917 yr He was the Assistant Atheltic Director under Ms. Jane Meier. . Rhetorical question, my friend.
September 22, 200917 yr I can't remember. There was a list in the Enquirer but none of the names jumped out at me. Also, people must remember that its extremely expensive for a school to go D1 between increased costs for scholarships as well as needed upgrades to facilities. Travel expenses also go way up...............I would think that if/when they do ever go D1, scholarship cost could be funded with seat license revenue. I know most D1 schools pay these out of a separate athletic department fund pool that neither come from tuition or taxpayers. But I am sure this is at least 10 years down the road.
September 22, 200917 yr It has always been my understanding that they were trying to improve their facilities before they made the jump. Back in 2004, or 05 they brought in an outside consulting firm to determine the feasability of making the move. That firms findings had indicated it would take a considerable amount of money to make the jump to DI. With the current economic situation I would find it hard to believe that Dr. Votruba would make the decision to proceed. It is in the future, but probably at least not until the economy turns.

Recruiting costs could increase as well. NKU would go from being competive for National Titles to a small fish in a big pond.

If I understand correctly, basketball scholarships is not the most significant costs....a school has to have a certain number of qualifying sports on both the men's and women's sides.
September 23, 200917 yr I saw an interview on tv with the new AD when he was hired and I believe he said something about some sort of fee that was around 1 million dollars that they would have to pay if they eventually moved up to D1. Sounded like there was a lot more things involved in making the jump then I would have imagined.

To be in Division I, you have to do so in like eight or nine sports for both men and women. Those scholarships add up.
