#1 Mason Co goes to 4-0

 

Great game.

Rowan County really hurts themselves with over 125 Penalty yards.

That was closer than I thought it would be.

Very entertaining game; each team had scored a TD before the first 2 minutes of the game had elapsed. Huge game for Gilbert with 2 TDs; one on a perfect pass from Pawsat and the second on a reverse.

 

Rowan County with 400+ yards on offense; 350 or so on the ground. Anyone who thinks that Mason County is simply going to plow through their schedule unchallenged either hasn't watched this team play or doesn't know football. They're an exciting team to watch but give up WAY too many yards on the ground.

 

Rowan's ultimate demise was the 17 penalties. Second biggest play of the game (in hindsight) was the 5-yard penalty lining up for the kick to tie the game at 21. Went for 2; missed; forced to go for 2 again when the score was 28-26; missed again. Biggest play of the game was the sack with seconds to play. Harris, Black and Bauer with 11, 10 and 9 tackles respectively.

Yes he was; very elusive and hard to bring down. Obvious strategy in the kicking game for both sides was to take the penalty and put the ball on the 35 rather than risk a big return.

Great game. Alot closer then expected. Rowan's D came to play tonight and kept them in it the whole game.

Mason is 4-0. Sounds like this was a great game.

By the way, it was great to see the nice crowd for Homecoming. And the 5 dollar tailgate meal of chili and cornbread, sandwich, cookie, pie and drink was well worth it.:thumb:

Good job Royals. Exciting game to watch. This was a good test for the Royals. They needed a good challenge. This will benefit them come playoff time. #32 for Rowan was a little giant on the field tonight. Great game for Gilbert. Seemed like when Mason needed a big play he was there. Think it is safe to say that Mason is not just a basketball school anymore. Congrats to Coach Buchanan and his staff.

The Vikings were tough tonight. Both teams took it to each other pretty well. No arguments on who is the most improved team around the area is. Rowan is turning the corner and will make some noise come playoff time

Congratulations to Mason County on pulling out the win against an obviously vastly improved Rowan County team. Rowan County and Lawrence County are turning what used to be a rather weak 4A district into a LOT stronger competition!

Rowan sure did come to play tonight, it was a great dog fight untill the end. Congrats Royals!
