September 4, 200917 yr It's amazing the amount of quotes that man can keep in his mind over these years. I'm not sure how he does it either because I think I'm going to remember that and brighten someones day tomorrow and can't even remember it like 16 hours later! He's impressive that's for sure.

Cue cards are helpful
September 4, 200917 yr Cue cards are helpful Yeah, however they are still quotes you can't just make up. I know you'll bring up the internet; this and that, but I do feel they are usually genuine.
September 4, 200917 yr Love this part of college football......haha Holtz is great! That man is a natural comedian, I have heard some put him down like he is crazy and has "lost it". Lou Holtz has forgotten more football than most will ever know. Most of his comments are of the "tounge in cheek" variety.
September 4, 200917 yr There are two sides of "Dr. Lou". The comical side, mainly because of Lou. Some of the stuff he says and how he says it are hilarious. (And I don't think that's his intention) The coaching side. He throws in some GREAT quotes. Last night was something like, "Happiness is just having a short memory." There was another one, "If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven't done anything today." Great coach speak. I wish I could find the bit of a Columbus (I think) radio station that had a guy that mimic'd Holtz' pregame speeches on Thursday nights. They were freaking awesome.
September 4, 200917 yr The best Lou Holtz story/quote was after the pre-game brawl against Miami in '88. He had his players in the locker room, and they thought that they were going to get ripped. He lights into them and says that that's not how they represent the University and all that stuff. At the end he says, "But if you have to fight, make sure that you leave Jimmy Johnson for me." The players, obviously, went nuts.
September 4, 200917 yr Everyone always talks about what a great coach Holtz is/was but I personally don't see it. IMO he is overrated. That's not to say he wasn't a good coach but I don't think he is near what most think he is.
