Obama to address nations school children

Featured Replies

I thought we already said we don't like any president doing it.

It obviously didn't do much good. So I again must reiterate, we need to reach the parents of these kids. Another talk to the kids will just have the same result, IMO.

My point is that it isn't just an issue of why YOU don't like it. Why an uproar now and not back in 1991 or in the 80s?

How do we know that it didn't do any good? How can we measure that? Is it possible that it made one iota of difference to one student?

I don't remember if there was an uproar or not back then. Could have been that those that opposed Bush Sr. or Reagan didn't send their kids to school that day.

I suppose it might have helped on a very small scale and I think it will have no more of an affect on students this go around. This is why I'd much rather see him try to reach the parents.

I apply conservative, liberal, and libertarian titles to people. You have before as well. Plato and Cicero did to. I am satisfied with the practice.

I recognize the limitations of applying those terms and explicate my meaning when warranted. I do not, or at least I make an effort to not attempt to generalize posters, positions, or people into categories for the purpose of deriding them or dismissing them out of hand, which was my point. If that was Plato's practice then I'm unfamiliar with it. I haven't read Cicero.

I thought it was those with loaded guns and those who dig.

You dig.

If those are indeed the only two choices, then I most definitely dig.:D

I did? I can't even figure out where I put myself most of the time - let alone anyone else.

Just saw this little gem floating around the internet...
