September 2, 200917 yr I don't blame Rubio at all. I put 100% of the blame on the T-wolves. They knew he didn't want to play for them so why pick him? That is the reason Memphis passed on him according to the rumor mill. Going ahead and picking him anyway was dumb. Compounding the stupidity was the fact they traded for this pick and took on bad contracts in the process. For what purpose? I don't agree that Rubio only wanted certain teams, but the fact is it wasn't a secret and the T-wolves knew this.
September 3, 200917 yr If you enter the NBA Draft and you are selected, there shouldn't be an option to go elsewhere without consequence. If you enter the draft, are a lottery pick and get offered millions of dollars - you need to take the deal. If he wanted to stay in Europe, he didn't need to be in the NBA Draft. That's my opinion and it's not really from a "fan". I'm really not that big of an NBA fan at all. Again, IMO that's irrational. Why give the owners all of the power? There would be no negotiations. Again, leverage is the key and its a beautiful thing. Besides, when he does return he's still a TWolve

There are never any american holdouts because they all know how much they will make. The number 1 pick will get no more than approximately 4 million year. September 4, 200917 yr I heard a great point today by J.A. Adande on Around the Horn. Rubio is 18. If he were American he wouldn't even be allowed to play in the NBA, he'd be going to college. Since he is a foreigner, he is eligible immediately. I think the NBA needs to look into this. It's not right for American kids to have to wait, but foreign kids can play right away at 18.
