September 2, 200917 yr It was pretty much already this way, but Philly beating San Fran just makes me cut bait and stop rooting for Philly to lose, and focus only on hoping the Braves can pull out the Wild Card. I hope the Phillies sweep them.

September 2, 200917 yr Chipper is non-existent in this lineup right now and he continues to struggle. Braves regain the lead and are now up 3-2. Chipper is just fine, he is just in a bit of a slump right now and even good hitters go into slumps from time to time. He is a lifetime .300 hitter and he will regain form I'm sure. Chipper is one of the most consistent players in Baseball year in and year out. He will be just fine as will the Braves...
September 2, 200917 yr You know, it's incredible how much of a black hole Chipper's AB has become. True. He's been awful lately.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate everything Chipper has done for the Braves organization and he is a great player who will enter the HOF one day, but he is not fine. He has 5 hits in his last 50 AB's. He has struggled for the entire second half of the season. It could be a number of things but I wouldn't just brush it off because as you said he is a career .300 hitter and is very consistent so for him to be hitting .275 that's a little off. Isn't Chipper trying to play through an injury or something? Not that I'm aware of. He has actually played the course of most of the season. Unless there is a nagging injury he has hidden I'm not sure of anything that he is playing through.
September 2, 200917 yr Author Hudson did pretty good for his 1st outing this season. Braves lead 3-2 right now.

September 2, 200917 yr Author The guy is also 37 years old ... players decline with age. That they do but a guy like him doesn't go from batting .367 to .275 over the course of one season, not without some kind of injury or something.
