QB Contoversy in Philadelphia

Featured Replies

Listening to McNabb, or what they showed of McNabb, I understand where he is coming from. He is the franchise qb and if the Eagles falter, it will be his fault, not Vick's. McNabb wanted to get some sort of rhythm going because he is likely not playing at all in the next preseason game. Running Vick into the game on the second play of the game and then treating the team like Spurrier is coaching is not going to help out McNabb or the team for that matter. Not to mention that Philly threw the ball 58 times last night while they ran it 19 times. We all know Vick cannot throw the ball 58 times a game without awful things happening. I'd say this is much ado about nothing. Philly underperformed last night and part of it may have been trying to force feed Vick into the lineup to see what he can do, instead of just letting him assume the role of qb and seeing what he can do after McNabb was done for the night. Either way it goes, I still think Philly wins the NFC East.

He is on a conditional reinstatement. He can participate in practice, and the final two pre-season games. That is why he didn't get to play in their last pre-season game. Not because they didn't think he was ready yet, but because he wasn't allowed to. He is also suspended indefinitly from regualr season play until Rog gives it the go ahead. He is expected to give this go ahead no later than week 6, which means could be week one, could be week six, or anywhere else in between.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I wonder if he will get any games? He gave a great interview on 60 minutes that would make him appear very contrite. I believe that that was all Goodell was looking for.

I'm a big Eagles hater, but most of that just looks like speculation. However if there's trouble in that locker room we'll know about it soon enough.

I agree with halfback20. It doesn't seem like there is anything there.

I'd say he'll get at least 4 weeks.

Goodell being Goodell will probably give him at least one or two anyway. I doubt theres anyway he gives him all six.

I said all along Vick is very intriguing to put on the field with McNabb as a toy but IMO this is a lot more trouble than it's worth other than maybe having the best back up in the league. Never liked Vick in the West Coast Offense either. I thought after the draft and Peters pickup that Philly has a really good chance to win it all. JJ dying, Dawkins spirit gone, Westbrooke new knee and now this pressure/chemistry has knocked them down some IMO. I could be wrong they are talented enough to win it all but I think they asked for trouble when they signed him. McNabb gets enough pressure there anyways. I wish he would get traded and win it all for the idiot fans in Philly. I think the media blew the whole Vick deal up bigger than it was.

Don't forget they lost their MLB for the year...

I think the key for Philly is the offensive line. They've amassed a tremendously talented fivesome, but it won't matter if they can't gel as a unit or stay healthy. Peters has the potential to be the best tackle in the league if he's motivated. The Andrews brothers provided a dominating right side. With the line they have, they should play a more physical style and stay committed to the run. I doubt they will though.

I like Philly and NY in the NFC.
