I like that list but I think Couch should be above Hicks.

High school stats mean little to nothing to a good collegiate coach. With the way most stats are kept at the high school level the simple validity of them are questioned. Outside of hitting 15 homers most stats are overlooked by solid coaches when it comes to making their teams. I am sure that some institutions keep solid stats and I am not saying that across the board but the majority of schools have some kid keeping stats that is doing it just to keep his coach happy. Statistics are a part of baseball and always will be but have been and will be overlooked by good collegiate recruiters and coaches due to a various number of reasons some of which I have already mentioned. JMO

Senior Kevin Davidson from Buckhorn is a nice player on a very improved Buckhorn team.

Kevin Davidson is a great player. Not to many people notice him, cause how the teams performance has been the past years. He did a great job, in the East West All Star game in Louisville. I would include him in the top 10.

should Davidson have went to the game over corey thomas? Jason Osbourne? Quentin Morgan? Im not taking anything away from Davidson i have saw him play and he is a good kid with some ability and knowledge of the game but imo there were many other deserving kids with the #s and talent

I think all of those other players were deserving, but I also feel Davidson deserved his shot. Even though he plays on a below average team, I believe he is one of the better players in the region. He plays hard and has the ability to play college ball somewhere.

You left out a very very good player when you left out Jason Bowling from Owsley.

I don't think he can play with the guys on that list IMHO.

I'm not an expert on baseball by no means, but Jason Bowling is a very good baseball player. Last year he had to play so many different positions for Owsley County that it took a lot out of him. He was the starting catcher, but he also pitched. Well, to pitch one day and then catch the next is not easy. Making throws to 2nd base is hard on one's arm, not to mention squatting behind the plate and what it does to the knees and legs.

Jason will have more help next year with the return Robert Smith and every starter from last year, of which several were 8th graders and freshmen.

I think Jason is one of the top players in the region, but I'm a little biased. As far as that goes, I think Robert Smith is up there too...if he can control his emotions when things aren't going right. He was a good pitcher as a sophomore, but didn't get to play last year. I think he'll have a solid senior season.

I only listed a few players at each position. If I had to choose nine or ten players from the 14th region, I'd take those kids. Several of the kids I chose could play many different positions, and they all have pretty good speed. If you are athletic enough to play shortstop, then you can play just about anywhere else.

Im not trying to take anything away from him im just saying that the players listed are the best in the region. Im not saying he isn't good he just hasn't had the chance to show it.
