August 28, 200917 yr I just really fear that when Maia gets obliterated by Silva or Hendo or whoever he fights after Marquardt that you may go into a bout of depression...If you need to talk you can always PM me
August 28, 200917 yr Shogun would be a possibility if he regained his PRIDE form. I don't expect that to happen though. There are still a few big names they could throw in the cage with him...I think Silva wants some big paydays while he's still at his peak. Rampage would be a good fight. If Randy Couture loses to Big Nog, that's who I'd put in the Octagon with Silva. There's his payday. The old man who seems to deliver his best when the odds are stacked against him against the best fighter in the world. Couture moves back down and Silva moves up to 205. That fight would generate a lot of buzz, IMO. If not that... Brandon Vera possibly? Or a heavyweight...Mir? I'm not sure. May as well see what his limit is...put him in there with a 240-50 pound man and see how he fares. Good name, Vera is one of the most gifted MMA fighters in the world, motivation and heart has been the question........his striking is on par with Silvas........I want this fight if he beats Hendo.

When Vera first broke onto the scene, I really thought he was the future of whatever division he decided to fight in. To say his striking is on par with Silva's is more than a little bit of a reach. To say his striking is on par with Silva's is more than a little bit of a reach. Vera's last couple of fights have been torture to watch... In the beginning I think there is no question his striking was on par, maybe against better, bigger fighters.......Mir.........like I said though heart and motivation are question marks.........put him in against Silva and say winner gets Machida......The Truth will be motivated.

He doesn't deserve Machida even if he beats Silva...

Vera was a name I thought would possible make a good fight for Anderson but he has been so lackluster ever since dropping to 205. They are both similar fighters as they both are Muay Thai strikers with good BJJ.
August 28, 200917 yr Author Vera hasn't looked good at all IMO since dropping to 205. His fight against Jardine was boring IMO.
August 28, 200917 yr Vera hasn't looked good at all IMO since dropping to 205. His fight against Jardine was boring IMO. He looks sick at 205...not good sick, physically ill. Part of his upside at heavyweight was that he was so much quicker and athletically gifted than most in the division. At light heavy at best he is in the lower tier. 205 was not a good move for Vera imo. He has the misfortune of having a body style that won't allow him to put on much weight and remain in good condition, but the weight he is at now, doesn't afford him the same intensity and K.O. power.
August 28, 200917 yr It would be intriguing. But, I'd rather see how he fared against some of the other guys first. The size would be a big disadvantage against a guy like Mir...I'm not sure if he could overcome Brock's size. He might just be too big. Honestly, I want to see Couture fight Silva. I doubt it will happen, but I'd like to see what Randy would/could do in that fight. Couture likes to test himself against the best, so I'd say he'd be up for it...and he's got the drawing power to generate a nice payoff for Silva. Maybe I'm crazy, but that fight makes sense to me. Obviously, that's contingent upon Couture not winning his next two fights at regaining the HW title. I read today that after the Big Nog fight, instead of Lesnar, Cotoure wants Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida. You may get your wish after all young Skywalker.
