Anderson Silva to Heavyweight?

Featured Replies

Hendo is not a mid-level MW though...he's a top middleweight.

Henderson is an elite fighter in two weight classes. I didn't think it was necessary to point that out. I just thought that might be an interesting matchup.

He doesn't think Hendo deserves a title shot. He thinks Hendo should fight the winner of Marquardt/Maia and the winner of that fight deserves a title shot. I think Silva should fight who the UFC tells him to personally.

He's fought less deserving guys for the belt and he's never made comments like that before. Sounds more like he just doesn't want to fight him to me.

Hendo has KO power, One hit....And they wake you up

The UFC will make that clear to Silva....

I think that would be a very hard road for all three fighters, Any combination you throw out there, Would be a tough pick IMO...

He's a diva...he wants to fight at 205, but won't be contending for the title.

He won't vacate his MW title but doesn't want to fight the guy UFC has slated at #1.

He wants to box Roy Jones, Jr. and fight some heavyweights.

Geez.

He's not that great, While he could kill me....I still think Maia beats him..

Very true. I doubt Silva is afraid to fight him since he finished him relatively easy the first time around. That's why I find it perplexing that he seemingly doesn't want this fight to happen.

There could be other reasons...Silva's scenario would take a few months, which would allow him to fight at least once in that time...and it would obviously have to be at 205 or HW. Maybe it's his subtle way of trying to force the UFC to give him a big fight in a higher weight class.:idunno:

Could be...But who at 205 could handle him? Jackson is the only one IMO...

I just think with GSP being the best MMA wrestler in the sport, it would work to his advantage.

JMO,

Later.

Fair enough. I'd rather see him fight one of the upper tier guys at 185 first. It seems like a big leap to go from 170 to fighting the best in the world at 185 with nothing to bridge the gap. That's why I mentioned a GSP/Henderson fight.

Of course, I think Henderson would win. I'm just not convinced that GSP is one of those rare fighters who can move up a weight class and be an elite contender. I think we should find out though...unless something changes at 170, that's becoming a waste of time. I'm more interested in seeing him move permanently (obviously depending on the results) than a one-time superfight with Anderson Silva.

Shogun would be a possibility if he regained his PRIDE form. I don't expect that to happen though.

There are still a few big names they could throw in the cage with him...I think Silva wants some big paydays while he's still at his peak.

Rampage would be a good fight.

If Randy Couture loses to Big Nog, that's who I'd put in the Octagon with Silva. There's his payday. The old man who seems to deliver his best when the odds are stacked against him against the best fighter in the world. Couture moves back down and Silva moves up to 205. That fight would generate a lot of buzz, IMO.

If not that...

Brandon Vera possibly? Or a heavyweight...Mir? I'm not sure. May as well see what his limit is...put him in there with a 240-50 pound man and see how he fares.

How about Brock? :D

How about Brock? :D

It would be intriguing. But, I'd rather see how he fared against some of the other guys first.

The size would be a big disadvantage against a guy like Mir...I'm not sure if he could overcome Brock's size. He might just be too big.

Honestly, I want to see Couture fight Silva. I doubt it will happen, but I'd like to see what Randy would/could do in that fight. Couture likes to test himself against the best, so I'd say he'd be up for it...and he's got the drawing power to generate a nice payoff for Silva. Maybe I'm crazy, but that fight makes sense to me. Obviously, that's contingent upon Couture not winning his next two fights at regaining the HW title.

Mir has some very good ground skills, Could be something special...

You also said you'd like to see him fight a mid level middleweight. I assumed that since you stated right after that that you wanted to see Hendo vs. GSP that you were considering Hendo a mid level middleweight. Or you certainly made it look that way.

Are you serious?

Are you serious?

Yes, I am..
