August 24, 200917 yr Reds win 4-1. Bailey goes 7 strong. 4 hits, 4 walks. Retired 15 of the final 18 he faced, including each of the final 8. Hanigan & Dickerson both left with injuries. Dickerson rolled his ankle on a pickoff attempt. He's headed to the DL. Hanigan took a foul tip to the mask and has a mild concussion. He's day-to-day.

We'll get to see what the young guys can do. I wish Dickerson would've stayed healthy this year & we could get a better read on him.

The improved pitching out of the starters is an illusion created by a good April. This is, and will be next year, one of the worst teams in baseball. This team is 25-51 since May 27th. They are lucky that they got off to a good start or they could end up with the worst record in baseball--I'm not going to look it up but I bet they have had the worst record since May 27th.

Due to the proximity of Cincinnati I've been stuck watching their mess for the past 15 years. I would like them to get a decent team so it would be more fun to watch. Right now they are probably one of the 5 worst organizations in MLB.

I was hoping to see a turnaround soon, but I am finding it hard to believe it will happen. If Banana Bob is sincere about his desire to put a winning team on the field, he's going to have to put the cart in front of the horse with payroll. He will not draw people until they see a winner out there day in and day out. I can't tell you the last time I have spent a nickel down there. And this is coming from a fan that used to pay to see 10-15 games a year, a long time ago.
August 24, 200917 yr Pittsburgh actually has more all around talent than the Reds I believe. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pirates contend for the Central or at least the Wild Card for a lot of next season, especially if they can get some pitching help because they have a load of offensive young talent.
