I think this one will be close...Roenker is a monster, but after seeing him during the CovCath scrimmage, he doesn't like contact. I if Bellevue's LB's can wear him out by hitting him every play, then Bellevue will pull this one out.

Roenker is a monster and he loves contact. In fact, he about tackled my brother on the sidelines at the scrimmage walking to the locker room...just for fun lol. He didn't get a lot of opportunity to do much at the scrimmage and the line needed some work.

 

That being said, I think Walker and Roenker will be too much. If HC's coach figures out how to throw the ball a little bit more, it could be bad bad news for Bellevue. You may be in luck though, from what I've heard, HC has a history of not throwing when they obviously should...they like to run run run. Roenker and Walker can run with the best of them..but there has to be a little more variation to beat solid teams, and I consider Bellevue a solid team.

Of course I will be pulling for the Tigers. I think this is a good test for them to see how they fair. This game will be able to compare them to BW and it will get them better down the long road. Bellevue needed a stronger schedule and thats what they got. Their record may not be the prettiest but they will be a better team because of it. Good luck Tigers I will be rooting you on Friday.

I heard one of the o line players for HC was injured in the scrimmage against CovCath and that could be why the o line looked a little weak. Any information?

Not sure how dropping NCC makes a schedule stronger.............................Now getting rid of Bracken County does. Gallatin beat Bellevue last year in the playoffs so not sure how that stregthens the schedule by dropping a team that just beat you.

 

Also.......you add Walton a first year program.

If you really look at this based on team history you dropped the very best team on your schedule (NCC )and the very worst (Bracken Co). Dropped Paris (equal to Walton)

Dropped Gallatin who might not be great but they won the game last year and you added Scott (horrible team but a bigger school).

 

Added Holmes and Holy Cross and neither in NCC range (although HC might be close this year).

 

 

So the schedule is slightly better. being a bigger school in Scott does not make it a better team than a Gallatin to play................

Holy Cross should win this hands down. They have the chance to be 1 of the better teams in single A. Would not help their cause to loose this first game.

Bellevue looked good on D. The front line looked much improved form last year. The DB's looked good at times seemed like they were still looking for the starting combination due to a lot of substituting going on. I'm sure they are looking to sub for Buckler, who starts at safety, when possible to keep his legs fresh. In my opinion the linebackers are going to be the deciding factor for Bellevue this year. First year starter DJ Slater (The Slatinator) looked very good. The kid is really working hard this year and has gotten the attention of his teammates by the way he has steped up. Over all the linebackers played well last Friday but need to keep improving. That being said Carroll County didn't have a Walker for Bellevue to try to contain. I think they can match up with Roenker, although a big game by him wouldn't surprise anyone. The key will be if Bellevue can keep contain. If, and understanding HC has some great athletes so that might be a big IF, Bellevue keeps contain they have a good chance of winning. Do you have a scouting report for HC up front and for the linebackers?

Roenker didn't run much in the CCH scrimmage due to what appeared to be the intent to work on their passing game. When he did run he didn't have much room with lots of contact in his own backfield.

Slater does have excellent size and speed and if he is putting it together than he will be an impact player for the Tigers. I do not know much about HC line and linebackers only that they are big up front. This sounds like it might be one of the better games to take in friday night:ylsuper:

I think over all the schedule changes not only strengthens it but is a better fit for Bellevue in the future.

 

HC for NCC - May just turn out not to be much of a differance this year. But in the future wil make a better schedule for Bellevue. While HC is still a bigger school not only in enrollment but they can recruiter all of KY (and CG). NCC was to big a game (emotional) for Believe due to some of the kids living in the same city, with very little up side for a non district game. We will call the game a lateral move in the schedule.

 

Walton for Bracken Caty - Not only is Walton now a must play district game but in my opinion will be a much better program in the future. This one is a definite upgrade for now and the future

 

 

Scott for Paris - Scott is not only a much larger school but has probably had the better team of the last couple of years regardless of the record. I think a bigger school has to be an upgrade in your schedule

 

 

Holmes for Gallatin Cty - I think this is a good change. Here again they have added a larger school who has more potential for putting a good team on the field year after year. It also takes them out of the position of a possible first round match up with a team you just beat in the final game of the season as happened last year. The familiarity last year got them beat in the first round. Again a larger school has to be considered an upgrade.

 

I give the coaching staff a :thumb: for improving the schedule rather it was by a lateral move, or picking up a beater team or just by scheduling a larger school with more potential year in and year out for talent.

I'm not getting carried away. Didn't say huge upgrade. But I think it is somewhat of an upgrade and a better fit for Bellevue. Also if you rank the teams you picked up and the team you drooped 1 - 4 and compared 1 to 1, 2 to 2, ect. I think you have to say upgrade in 3 out of 4 with HC bing a very good opponent for Bellevue while getting out of a game without a lot of upside. When you say NCC makes more sense than playing HC I respectfully disagree. I'm all for playing better competition with in reason but when some of the better athletes that live in your city continually go to the other school and your limited to one square mile to get your players from its not realistic to think your going to be competitive on a regular basis. That tends to bring the kids down. Losing to a bigger school with no emotional ties on the other hand can still be a positive learning experience for the kids.

I see the issue with the better athletes leaving.................................

 

 

Now lets hope this game is as good as some of us think it might be for a week 1 game!!!!!!!!!
