August 11, 200917 yr How do people hate Tim Tebow? All-American athlete who spends time helping out people in the Phillipines. Those aren't the types of athletes we need banished from sports. They're the type of athletes we need more of. Stephon Marbury & Latrell Sprewell join my list to be banished, behind Chris Berman. While I do completely agree with you, to play devil's advocate I think people just get tired of hearing about him and how is is practically god's gift to football lol.

Something or someone gets to the point where they are as popular as Tim Tebow or Peyton Manning I cannot inherently stand them because the sports media worships the ground they walk on. It is rare for me to also like them. I half expect to read an article some day along the lines of "Tim Tebow helps children in the Philippines then proceeds to forgo the flight back to the U.S. and walks across the Pacific back to California." I despise hero worship and Tim Tebow is currently the hero of the sports media.

The kid is one of, if not the best, college football player in the country. He's staying in college for 4 years. He already has 2 national championships and is the odds-on-favorite to win a 3rd this year. He won the Heisman as a sophomore & could've very easily won it again as a junior. He spends his time in the offseason in the Phillipines, where he spent a lot of time growing up. He gives back to the community. He also gets his picture taken with busty women. It's not worship. They're facts.
