How could anyone get upset? The high school rules clearly state you can not play if you are 19 years old before August 1 of your senior year. Every kid has the same option.

 

No, every kid does not have the same option. I have heard of schools who let the teachers decide who is retained and promoted not the parents.

It's the United States, alot of good men died so we could have the freedom to due what is legal and within the rules. I don't think anyone has a place to criticize anyone else as long as they are within the rules that are in place. There are several reasons to hold a child back and I think in each case it is solely up to the parents and the child until the rules state otherwise. I don't pass judgement on other people's decisions with their child, it's all I can do to try and raise my own. I don't think any of us on here have a child that will play in the NBA, surely we can find something better to waste our time talking about. I will tell you in the end there is not alot of difference between an 18 year old and a 19 year old. There is however, a significant difference between a 12 and a 13 year old. The argument could go on forever.

I will not pass judgement on parents that hold their children back. It is each parent's job to take care of what is best for their child. Is it that we are lacking in talent or is it all the kids aren't being exposed enough? I know when I went down to watch 13U AAU State, there were only three teams going Division 1 that really surprised me.

There were only 2 teams (KY Elite & DS Allstars) that signed up Division I. Essentially the U13 state was a DI tournament due to not enough teams for a split.

 

I think there are enough kids to have a Top 15, there just isn't one person who has seen all 13 year olds play to know who should and who shouldn't be on the list. It will continue to be an opinion....but opinions are fun - that's what makes this board great.

I agree with Slemac, lots of talent in this age group. Not enough exposure yet to know all of the kids names or to have seen all of them play. Kentucky highschool basketball in in for a few good years!

Only because I have not seen him play. Sounds like a stud to me! I look forward to seeing him play in the future. What High school/ middle school does he go to?

SHS Future, you need to change your name, and I think there are 5 or 6 kids better than the point guard you selected in your top 5. Other than that, it looks pretty good. McNeil is probably the most deserving of that 5th spot, I would also take the Hall kid from Moss over him as well.

 

Stanley was a 6th grader, I would rate him tops in that class right now.

Admittedly, I have only seen the Hall kid from Bowling Green 3-4 times and he is awfully good, but Snider does so many things that makes your team better it is unreal. He knows how to control a basketball game from the point guard position. And he shoots it well. Plus, he is the only one that I know of in 13U that played up the entire AAU season (played with The Ville) because his parents made a decision after playing down in 6th grade he needed to be challenged even more. If I was starting a 13U (next year's 14U) AAU team today and had a pick of any kid, I am starting with Snider (well, Portwood is my favorite 7th grader, so maybe my heart goes there, but my head wants a point guard).

You know that I respect your opinion greatly and we've had our battles (mentally) on the court numerous times (I still contend I got the screws put to me the last time), I have to disagree with you. Granted, I didn't see Snider play this year, but I would have to go with Hatton as the best player in the 13U age group, then Portwood, Davis, Craig ? (Louisville Legends) and McNeil as the top 5 in 13U.

I could be mistaken, I saw him several times last season but only once this season and he didn't play that well. You and I both know you can't judge a player on 1 game. He is very talented, sorry if I missed that one. I just know the other two kids can flat play and play hard every possession.

Last year Snider did not fit well with the Tarheels. This year he has played well in the 14U with the Ville. The Ville has played some of the best competition in the nation and from what I have seen and heard, he has held his own. From what I have seen this year, he was the best of the 3 (Snider, Hall, McNeil), but they are all worthy of consideration.:thumb:
