Langford is from Clinton County, he started and played exceptionally well in the AAU JV state as well as the 14/u AAU state. Clinton County or the Albany Bulldogs did not participate in the 13/u or 12/u state. Langford will see some varsity minutes this season. Dalton and Davis will also only be playing JV as 7th graders. Langford was rated in the top 15 last season and had done nothing but improve. He is about 6'1" now. These 3 are the main cogs to the Clinton County middle school team which has finished runner-up and 3rd the past two seasons at the middle school state. It is a shame that Clinton County will not be able to make a run at the 8th grade middle school state this coming year but I guess it helps them to move on up and play agaist the best compitition possible.

I would definitely change the Top 15, although I haven't seen a couple of players but once or twice so it would be hard to rank an order. But, by the time these kids are sophomores, 1/2 of the them probably won't be on the Top 15 list anyway.

But, at this moment, you would have to add a couple of the Louisville Legends big kids -- Craig (he played in nationals with KY Elite) and Kaelin (sp?). Not sure of either of there last names. Plus, Derek Smith All Stars had a 3 man (I think from Louisville) that was real strong and athletic in the AAU state, but I don't know his name.

 

Couldn't agree more. We should save this list and look at it again in 3 years to see how the names have changed. Many of the kids on these lists are just more mature than others in their grade. There will be a lot of 'sleepers' show up in the next few years.

Here in Johnson County our group is looking really good. We have 3 starters off the state runner up team staying back in the 7th grade this year. Point guard Braxton Blair has really improved over the summer and will be back in the 7th grade this year, with Hunter Ratliff and Truman Salyer also back in the 7th grade. Shane Hall is 6'5" now and dunking the ball with two hands with ease, he has really matured this summer and worked on his shot. This group looked as good I have seen them two weeks ago at Transy team camp.

Had the pleasure of watching Johnson county play a few games last year. Hard to imagine how good the 7th graders will be next year. Hall was amazing, hard to think that he is only going ot be an 8th grader.

Craig Owens and Kalen Martin are the players from the Louisville Legends.

I think the player that played with DS Allstars is Jermaine Perrish. I'm not 100% on this.

Wow. Just curious about how the teachers and others in the community feel about all this repeating of 7th grade. What about the players who will be in the first round of 7th grade? Will they be fetching the water for their older teammates? I know I will be getting the beating the dead horse icon but this just never ceases to amaze me.

How could anyone get upset? The high school rules clearly state you can not play if you are 19 years old before August 1 of your senior year. Every kid has the same option.

My boy will be 18 when he is a Senior we opted to hold him back in Kindergarten class as he was not mature enough and he has been very successful in the classroom, it was never for an athletic advantage. If the boys need it for school reasons by all means, but just because a rule is in place should we take advantage of it. Rules are indispensable but I hope some folks have the knowledge to challenge them by trying new ones. I would challenge the efficiency and open it up to criticism. IMO it should be based on academic standing not based on athletic talent. I truly hope that is the true reason why this is being done, as it certainly is not evident in the post.

It's the United States, alot of good men died so we could have the freedom to due what is legal and within the rules. I don't think anyone has a place to criticize anyone else as long as they are within the rules that are in place. There are several reasons to hold a child back and I think in each case it is solely up to the parents and the child until the rules state otherwise. I don't pass judgement on other people's decisions with their child, it's all I can do to try and raise my own. I don't think any of us on here have a child that will play in the NBA, surely we can find something better to waste our time talking about. I will tell you in the end there is not alot of difference between an 18 year old and a 19 year old. There is however, a significant difference between a 12 and a 13 year old. The argument could go on forever.

I started college at 17 and had no problems. If I didn't want my child to go to college at 17 I would have held him out of school a year before he started, not reapeated a grade unless academically necessary. Of course I don't know this situation but just seems a little ironic that the taxpayers need to pay for 3 teammates to repeat 7th grade.
