That is serious :thumb:

You should change your name to VacationMan. I don't know if I could handle a gator that close to me.

I'm from Charleston down the road. And we had multiple alligators in our ponds in neighborhoods. Kids would feed them? lol. Bread...yup I'm sure thats what they wanted. Once they hit 6 feet though, animal control had to come get them or something.

This one is pushing 8'. It is much faster than I anticipated.

I watched it chase a bird tonight and I must say, I don't want it after me!

Remember...run zig zagged! They can run up to 45 miles per hour... I did an airboat tour in Fla once when I was a Sr in high school. They said you won't out run them but can get away running zig zagged.

One year we stayed at Isle of Palms in Charleston. I had been drinking Red Stripe all day and decided to go fish in the pond by one of the golf holes late in the evening. I sat on a wall and fished about 30 minutes. I decided to look down and about 5ft under my hanging feet was a huge gator sitting up against the conreate. I almost passed out. I decided to back away slow. I wanted to see how quick it was so I leaned back (in case I passed out I would fall back where it couldn't get to me instead of forward on top of it lol) and I put my jig on it's nose. I planned to pull it away before it could get it....WRONG. It snapped faster than I could blink and I hooked it. People were on their balconies laughing as it went running with it. Needless to say I cut the line and got the heck out of there fast lol.

lol wow. I lived right over the bridge from Isle of Palms, in Mt. Pleasant and I'm surprised they had gators in the ponds near the golf courses. But yes you're right, run zig zagged, those suckers are fast.

And wireman, I'm surprised it is that big and animal control hasn't done something about it. Is it in a neighborhood/condo area?

Wireman's first ever shark (about 18" long, but still a blast):

How far is that gator from your living area? Is it in a lake on the premisis?
