Fans and reporters are one thing, but opposing players is another.

I can't aruge with Big Ben being the best.

(Waiting for that immortal phrase ... :sssh: )

This is surprising after a Super Bowl ring and the only other QB with as much talent was injured all year.

It's much more interesting that the vote for second between Carson and Flacco was so close. Sorry, but I'm not rating a rookie whose best trait was to not make mistakes, and was fortunate enough to play on a team with a solid running game and an elite, playmaking defense that is good enough to win a few games itself if the offense takes care of the ball ahead of a guy whose worst full season of football resulted in 4100 yards, 26 TD/20 Int and a 64% completion rate.

Seriously?

I have no problem with Roethlisberger at #1. He's a proven winner with two Super Bowls and the much coveted ability to make winning plays in crunch time. But, the vote for second was as much a lock as for first. Carson Palmer is a stud when healthy. There's no question about it. All Joe Flacco has proven is that he has a strong arm, and he can be Trent Dilfer v.2000.

At this point it's near impossible to argue with Big Ben. With that being said, I wouldn't trade Palmer for him...:D

Gotta remember though that a lot of the young players in the league have not played against a healthy Palmer.

Is this supposed to be surprising?

Big Ben

Flacco

Palmer

Whoever the Browns throw out there

Obviously its Big Ben

Toughest player?

2-3 years ago, it's Ray-Ray. Now it's Harrison. The funny thing is no Bengals player received a vote for toughest player.

Rookies...there aren't that many of them, unless they only polled rookies?

Palmer was healthy in '07 and it was his worst season.

64.9%

4131 Yards

26 TD/20 Int

86.7 QB Rating

Flacco's numbers were respectable for a rookie...they're comparable to Carson Palmers rookie stats in 3 less games...

Flacco - 16 Games, 257/428 (60%), 2971 Yards, 14 TD, 12 Int, 80.3 Rating

Palmer - 13 Games, 263/432 (60.9%), 2897 Yards, 18 TD, 18 Int, 77.3 Rating

I'd go with Hines Ward on the toughest player.

JMO

All else equal, I would still take Carson.

Toughest player should be Hines.

I'm amazed I haven't heard it yet. But some of you are dancing around it …

If it was the dirtiest player, Hines Ward would have won.

Is that the mystery phrase?

Nope.
