I make way less than that now. You are going to pay me 1 million a year to play basketball?????? Sorry, I'd play for free on a team that will win. As has been said before, some people value winning more than money(me, LCPats, a few others) while a lot of you would take more money to lose. To each his own....... Me and the rest of the world will take 10 million per year and only win 30 games as opposed to 5 or 6 million and play on a very good team, especially over an extended period of time. That would be a difference of 20 million dollars. I think Turk may have gotten more out of the Magic, but likely no more than 7.5 or so. Also consider that that 10 Million has an 8% raise every year so in year 5 he will be making by a very rough estimate around 14, 15 or 16 million per year. And for that kind of money.....you can call me a loser. I would lose every game for the next five years if I could bring in 8 figures a season.

Of course he did the smart thing financially, but there is more to life that money..... like not living in Canada and having a chance to win a ring. It cracks me up when people who are middle class working citizens say this kind of thing. How in the world could this guy turn down $60M to go to a city his wife wants to go and plays a style he wants to play? He had a chance at a title this year and barely missed. He parlayed that into a huge contract that sets up his family for a long time. I would do exactly what he did and so would 99.99% of the people in the world.

Anyone who had a chance to be filthy rich would take it. This is Turks best shot to get paid, he had to take it. Now he, nor his wife, or his children and probably his grandchildren will have to work for the rest of their lives. I'm sure they will, but it won't be necessary. Who knows how much of his previous money he actually has, considering taxes and agent fees? Get all the money you can while you can. It's not greed, Turk realizes that this is a business, and he was being a savvy businessman. His best shot at a title this year was with the Magic, and they cleary didn't want to pay him what other teams would, so what is the problem. Portland is probably still a few years away from contention, so he would have been on a better team, but not a team that could hoist the trophy.

Plus he has Calderon, Bargnani, and Bosh, along with Rookie Demar DeRozan. Could be an interesting team this year.

They have to get rid of just about the rest of the roster, unless they can get Orlando to take it as a sign and trade. Think we could see Marion as a part of the Magic?
