June 16, 200917 yr I'm still trying to figure out why anyone needs a gun in Mammoth Cave...legally or illegally. I have a good reason. Every spring I embark on a mushroom hunting trip at Mammoth Cave with a friend from Etown. I don't know if you've been to the area around Mammoth Cave or not, but it has a bit of a "Deliverance" aura to it. So............ if any "strange fellars" show up with less than honorable intentions, I will now be able to carry a firearm and protect myself accordingly.

My family lives outside of Leitchfield. :lol: I don't know if you've ever been there, or been back off the main roads but.....I still don't know why you'd need a gun.

June 16, 200917 yr You need a gun in Mammoth Cave for.......????? Wild animals can attack or become agressive. Friends dad shot a copperhead when we were backpacking one time. It seemed kind of extreme to me, but he explained that it was pretty close to the trail that other hikers would use and that he didn't feel it was right leaving it there for someone else to possibly be bitten by it. I'm with JD, I see nothing wrong with law abiding citizens carry a gun in a park.
