I can't imagine them losing focus in the NBA Finals.

Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA, and he proved it last night. The Orlando Magic proved, that if Kevin Garnett hadn't of hurt himself, we'd be seeing another Celtics/Lakers final.

I thought Bynum coming out and being aggresive really set the tone for this one. That and the fact that Kobe was amazing. He is not going to let them lose it this year, he looked rested and very explosive.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I respect your opinion, I have just never agree with or fully understood this arguement that people try to make. Maybe I am a little bias, growing up with the 90's Bulls teams and watching all their games. But the difference between Pat Riley and Phil Jackson is that Phil continually wins with those good players. You can't say the same about Pat Riley.

 

I like Cal's consecutive game (not wins lol) streak too, but are you saying that you aren't going to like it if someone else who plays the game the right way tops it? Or the same with Chamberlain's, Pete Rose's, Nolan Ryan's, or anyone elses?

 

I loved the '90's Bulls as well that doesn't mean I have to think that Phil Jackson is a good coach. May favorite sports team of all-time had one of the worst coaches in history, the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.

What about the two years in Chicago after Jordan retired (for the first time)? He stayed and they were still pretty successful.

 

I also believe that there are many other coaches how would not have won the titles that he has won with the teams he's had. It's an arguement that will never be solved. But in the end, he will be a HOFer and will continually be brought up in the converstaion of "Best ever coaches in the NBA".

 

True, but those were still good teams. The '94 team still could have won a title. Those were possibly Pippen's best individual years.

 

I honestly believe that after this series we all will be saying that Kobe is the best in the game. It just looks like he has that fire and will not let his team lose. BUT, as for the Magic, we might be looking at the Spurs of the east over the next few years. They are SOLID and will only get better with experience.

 

I think it will still be split. I don't see how Kobe is anymore impressive than LeBron. Sure his team won, but let's compare the rosters if need be. Big difference in Gasol, Odom, Bynum to Big Z, Varajao, Ben Wallace. Yeah, he's doing it in the finals, but when his roster was subpar he was doing the same thing finals week that LeBron is doing this week...watching.

 

They Magic are going to have to decide what to do with Hedu Turkoglu. He is a free agent this season. Common sense says resign him, but for how long? How much money are the Magic willing to pay him? He's 30 and having a career year, but a bad deal could cripple this team in the long run.

I think it might, or we might be looking at another sweep. Historically the Magic are now 0 and 5 all-time in the finals.

I think that Jerry Sloan is a great, underrated coach. Sure he hasn't won a title, but Malone and Stockton

Just playing around, my man. I'm not an expert on the specific coaching styles among the head coaches of the NBA for the last 50 years (or even currently) to comment on the matter. But I have a hard time saying that Jackson isn't a good coach- if anything, he's tremendous at managing the enormous ego's of his players, which is an accomplishment in himself.

 

Anyways, I'd say (and I'm sure you'd agree) that GM's have more to do with creating a championship team than anything.

The Lakers probably won't win by 25, but they're better than Orlando and it's a good matchup for LA. Orlando's only shot in this series is to play their best and hope the Lakers return to sleep-mode.

 

They just don't play the style necessary to beat LA. They can't beat them playing an open, spread out, finesse game. The Lakers talent level is better and they're just better in that type of game.

 

If LA stays focused on the defensive end, they should win with relative ease.
