Read the post, try to understand it, and you will see the point that is being made. I 1000% understand that facts are contrasted w/opinions and beliefs. I love the debate part of this board when it is done in the correct manner. Most of the time it is, but not always!

 

OK, it does not really matter either way. The fact of the matter is we disagree on this situation. Nothing more, nothing less. And quite frankly, I think we've made it out to be more than it is.

I think it should, and will, have ZERO effect on anyone that may become a Brave in the future.

Why would the Furcal situation adversely effect the Braves? Can't you make an argument that they were the wronged party in that deal?

They were....I meant it the other way around actually. The Braves stopped working with that agent company, which Furcal is a client of, along with a lot of other baseball players, which in turn turn the Braves away.

McLouth finally came through last night with a big double.

 

Hanson looked great until the middle of the game. I think he's going to be very good though, just give him time. I hope they keep him in the majors for the rest of the year.

Philly did the same thing to Steve Carlton

Boston did the same thing to Dwight Evans

It's a business decision. If we use this logic, the Braves are going to trot out Dale Murphy, Brian Asselstine, and Rowland Office in the outfield because those players think they can still play.

 

Rick Camp, Rick Mahler, and Gene Garber still think they can get people out. Sign them.

 

Did the Braves handle it right? Probably not, but there are several precedents set where teams splitting from a franchise star didnt go to well.

 

They saved money they needed to land McLouth from the Pirates. It was a business decision. You can't always let your players dictate when they leave, regardless of how much success they enjoyed. Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer, and Steve Carlton did this and were terrible their few years because MLB teams couldn't tell them no.

The Braves are trying to win games. If they don't think Glavine is good enough to be in their rotation, they should have released him and gave him a chance to hook on with another team. That was the right decision.
