Well for one they could have let him make a start in the majors. He pitched 11 scoreless innings in his last 2 rehab starts. So to some that would warrant at least one call up. He starts, if he does good you keep him, if he struggles then you inform him the bad news and thank him for all that he has done for the organization and his release will let him be able to find somewhere else to continue pitching.

 

I firmly believe he shouldn't have been signed in the first place and should have been released once he had the setback. Case close and nobody would have said anything. Now you wait until he is ready to pitch before you release him.

I think if he pitched in the majors they would have to pay him a million dollars,I might be wrong but I think I read that. Pretty high price for maybe only one game.

You are correct. If he had been placed on the active roster he would have earned a $1million bonus then could have earned up to $2.5million more in incentive bonuses.

Glavine and the Braves had to much time over the years invested in one another for this to go down in the manner in which it did, just terrible and shameful. Whether it was a business decision or not, is completely irrelevant to me! Tom Glavine deserved much better from the Braves organization!

I understand what you are saying, but if he struggles, then that ONE LOSS would have cost the braves a million dollars.

Did anyone watch 'Rome is Burning' today? I completely agree with his take on the situation.

I tend to side with Buster Olney. Glavine deserved Griffey's fate.
