Cheney: No Link Between Sadaam Hussein & 9/11

 

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that he does not believe Saddam Hussein was involved in the planning or execution of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says Saddam Hussein "provided sanctuary ... and resources to terrorists."

 

 

 

 

He strongly defended the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq, however, arguing that Hussein's previous support for known terrorists was a serious danger after 9/11.

Dick vacations in Jackson Hole every year same time I do, he stays at Puzzleface Ranch. In the hopes that I don't say things like he did today, I am going to avoid drinking at the same Snake River wells.[insert Darth Vader music here]

Gee, it only took him more than 7 1/2 years to publicly state what everyone else knew to be true.

This guy has kept his mouth shut for 8 years. Now I guess he won't shut up for the next 8. This is getting old listening to him.

I'm a big Cheney fan. Seriously. He may not always say things that people want to hear or in a way that is very subtle, but I'm fine with that.

I had lunch with a formal Naval officer that worked with Cheney when the Naval officer worked at the Pentagon. He said Cheney was a horse's patoot, arrogant and very, very difficult to work with. But he said Cheney knew his stuff, always was very honest and straightforward in his opinions and beliefs, was a perfectionist and demanded perfection from all who worked with him. I can accept those flaws in return for those benefits.

Actually, I love Dick Cheney, too. I just thought he might have preferred not to let the "our other alternative was to kill them" remark slip out. True though it may be, those are things best left unsaid at a National Press Association event.

 

He likes to fish for trout in the streams merging into the Snake down in Hoback Canyon, south of Jackson, WY. He actually was buying some gear and spoke one time about fly fishing at Jack Dennis' in downtown Jackson. To the best of my knowledge, he has never thrown a fly line into the eyes of any lawyers while out fishing.

That's a pretty big mistake. Oh well, it just goes to show that anyone can change.

I can just see him torturing liberals on little electrical machines; blowing up liberal planets; torturing Gitmo prisoners with little robots holding needles to discuss the location of their secret liberal base; freezing liberals in carbonite; pinching his fingers together to cut off liberals' air supplies.

We learned more and more that there was a relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda that stretched back through most of the decade of the '90s, that it involved training, for example, on BW and CW [biological weapons and chemical weapons], that Al Qaeda sent personnel to Baghdad to get trained on the systems that are involved. The Iraqis providing bomb-making expertise and advice to the Al Qaeda organization."

I disagree with that statement. I watched Meet the Press on 9/16/01, five days after the 9/11 attacks. Cheney told Tim Russert that day that there was evidence that Mohamed Atta, the leader of the hijackers, had met with an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague earlier that year.

 

That assertion, as I understand it, was later refuted.

Thanks but am I missing something? Did he say they planned and executed the 9-11 attacks? It seems he still is saying there was a relationship between SH and AQ, isn't he?

Which is probably the reason he stated: "I do not believe and have never seen any evidence to confirm that [Hussein] was involved in 9/11. We had that reporting for a while, [but] eventually it turned out not to be true," Cheney conceded.
