Harrison County 4 Scott 1

Featured Replies

They just lose 4 seniors which of only one start (shortstop Eric Case). The Breds have a solid Junior and Sophomore class coming back next year. The future is bright for HC baseball as always.

I would like to congradulate Bobby Feeback for coming in to pinch hit with an 0-2 count with a runner on third and two outs. He battles the count all the way to 3-2 and then delivers a base hit to give the breds another run. This is great leadership by a senior.

Thanks, hope to take in a game there this week. Sounds easy to get too. I just think of St.Henry as being small and was concerned about facilities and parking. Do they have a nice field?

Probably the nicest in the area.

Great, great. Look forward to seeing a game there.

Harrison this year starts 6 juniors(1 being a designated hitter), 1 senior, and 3 sophomores on most days. They have an 8th grader throwing the ball around the low

80's that will really help them in the future along with a few others in that age group. One that I believe has a big chance of becoming a great ball player is Hunter Hill. He is the young man hit in the head against Bracken County. This young man just has a great feel for the game and is a brick wall behind the plate. Congrats Breds!!!

Was the Hill kid struck in the helmet, the neck area or face? Have never quite found out what happened. How is he doing now, will he be playing against Beechwood? Was the pitcher for BC that game the Cummins kid, I know he does throw pretty hard? Thanks for your comments Breds fan.

Congrats to the Breds on yet another 10th Region title!

Hunter Hill was struck in the helmet and the neck. It just nicked the bottom of his helmet while connecting with his neck. He is doing better but still with some mild headaches and dizziness. I do not believe he will be dressing against Beechwood but I could be mistaken.

from AA Hwy, take 275-West for a few miles, then 71/75-South to the first Erlanger exit. Take a right off the exit. St. Henry is on the right within a 1/4-mile. Park in front of school, then have to walk behind school to find field. It's a great facility - old Riverfront Stadium seats behind home plate. Get there a bit early to get one of those seats. Not sure about concessions.

St. Henry is more than 1/4 mile off the exit. Probably something like 1 mile on the right on Commonwealth (236). Good luck to both teams (especially Beechwood).

Is Hill also an 8th grader?

Just a freshmen

Definitely will start on Tuesday...neither team can play on Friday, as that is graduation day for HC. I think for B-wood as well, though I am not sure.

Not absolutely sure about game 2...if it is on Wednesday and the two teams split, that would mean two days before the deciding third game, unless the tournament manager opts to play on Thursday...which would be my recommendation.

If it takes three games to decide the champion, and if it is played on three consecutive days, which team would that favor?

I don't know much about B-wood, but Harrison County's pitching would be just fine in my opinion.

If B-wood doesn't have that kind of depth on the mound, it would be to their disavantage to play three straight days...St. Henry is managing the tournament and are a fellow 9th Region team of Beechwood.

Certainly, St. Henry, as the host, should be as unbiased as possible, but the reality is that they are a 9th Region school and I would expect them to "lean a little" toward the Beechies and do what they can to help them out.

For that reason, I would guess the tournament would be a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday format.

CTK,

The tournament manager has nothing to do with the game schedule. KHSAA has all of the scenarios covered. The only changes have been due to graduation schedules and they are on the Riherd scoreboard. All of the semi-states begin either on Monday or Tuesday (after which point, they are governed by the KHSAA guidelines). Check out the following link for details. http://www.khsaa.org/baseball/semistateinstructions.pdf

Did Scott really have 12 seniors?

I believe so. They will return only 1 starter next year and that was the man that pitched in the championship game for them in the form of Zach Sowder.

I would like to commend the Scott High staff, parents, players and coaches on their handling of the 10th region tourney. The weather was absolutley insane, yet the Scott High crew did a heck of a job. Very friendly folks at the ticket booth and the concessions. AD Mueller was always around, working hard to make the tourney first class. Job well done.
