Pretty sure it's illegal in some places to be sitting in a vehicle with the keys in the ignition, if you have been drinking.

I am totally against this...When they said Danville was going to be moist that I would get to see drunk people laying in the streets...well it's been five years of moist and I have not seen One drunk person laying in the street...If they lied to me once they will lie to me again...

I know ....I didn't stumble over not one drunk while I lived there...darn it anyway.....:sssh:...As rough as times are anymore, I think it would be stupid to let your money and taxes from your community wander off down the highway to another town.

I would certainly agree with your first statement but would add that sin also arises if , by your example, you lead someone else to excessive drinking.

 

I know that some in Ashland and maybe Boyd County are starting a move to allow Sunday beer sales. The premise is, according to a friend of mine who is a Boyd County official, that Sunday sales will stimulate the stagnate economy in and around Ashland.

 

I find it hard to believe that such a move will make more than a scintilla of difference in the economy in that area. If you have driven through Ashland in the last couple of years, you are aware that it will take far more than Sunday beer sales to revive that place. As proof of the futility up there, the recent "moist" vote which resulted in every precinct in the county becoming wet (an unexpected and unadvertised outcome) has resulted in nothing. Honest assessors know that Sunday beer sales will do little more. Of course, to quote my source, a few profitable businesses hiring more than waitresses, busboys, and dishwashers would help.

I live in one of those strange "dry" counties. However, one precinct just voted to allow a new winery to purchase land and begin growing grapes and producing wine.

I always think it's funny that people are afraid of drunks sleeping in the streets, etc. I generally find them to be harmless.

 

Seriously, I live in an area that has TONS of bars. I run into more homeless people than drunk people.

 

Although, the other morning I was waiting for my bus, which comes at 6:12am. So, a guy comes up, and stands nearby. I figured he was waiting for a bus as well. He starts talking and it turns out, he plays guitar and had played at one bar a few blocks down, left that bar to go to another, and in between, sat on the bench that's on the corner where we were standing. He was upset because he passed, and someone stole his guitar. Apparently, he'd been looking for the guitar from the time he awoke. Honestly....I couldn't do more than laugh, because he thinks God hates him because his guitar was stolen. :lol:

Not everyone disagrees with you. If there is a "right" to drink then there should be a "responsibility" to avoid injuring others. If you break the responsibility, you should be be held firmly accountable for the damage you cause. with no excuses. You commit the crime, you pay the price.
