Has the selections been made yet?

I wasn't there but I heard that the following players were NOT at the tryout:

Gelan Guyn

Chad Jackson

Josh Sewell

Elijah Justice

Rico Johnson

Elijah Pittman

 

I'm sure I'm missing other players who would be considered in the top 20 so I agree, it wasn't much of a tryout if you were planning to look at the top juniors. :idunno:

 

This list could beat any Junior/Senior team in the state IMO,

So are these pleyers for shore not on the team?

Add Ashley Hatfield and Colt Barnhill to that list that was not in attendance due to the fact they were still playing in the semi-finals of the State AAU.

I thought that all the Jr All-Star team did was scrimage the Senior All-Star team? Do the Juniors play other teams also? If not I dont see what the big deal is. You would like the Seniors to play the best Juniors for the competition, but you have to be realistic.

I like Aaron Watts and Travis Johnson alot, James Berry is an excellent 3pt shooter.

The kids that made the team made a commitment to be at the tryout, the other kids chose to play AAU. These juniors that made the team will get two scrimmages against the seniors to help them prepare. Don't slight these kids, they will represent the state very well.

Do you punish players who did show up to give a spot to a player who wasn't there? Regardless of the reason? I have been told they will have the tryout date during the week from here on out.

 

Besides the honor of being on the team, they ONLY scrimmage the KY SR All Star team twice, no other games.

Also its a shame that we don't have Guyn, Sewell, R. Johnson, Euton, Pittman, Jackson, or a few others on the team. I think next year they need to rethink the process a bit in choosing this team. I am no fan of AAU, but atleast have it on a weekend that don't interfere with the State All star AAU tournament.

Now, I'd like to say that the whole process was an absolute JOKE! How can you schedule the tryouts during the AAU state championships. You are asking the kids that play AAU to leave their teammates and miss the semis or final game of a state championship in order to achieve their own personal gain.

 

I take my hat off to all those kids for showing the class, in not leaving their teammates and coaches, that the organizers of the tryouts failed to show!

 

The high school coaches have to wake up and realize that the AAU season is as important, if not more, than the high school season and the kids should be given every opportunity to excel in both venues.

 

Again, congrats to those who made the team and hopefully there will be someone with some common sense planning the tryouts next year!!

Well, seems everyone is pumped about the State AAU tourney, but truth be known, even if it was another weekend, the top AAU players would be in other tournaments, that may be more important than the State AAU and playing teams that are more competitive than what they play at the State AAU level. Not to downplay the State AAU tourney, but that's reality. No matter when you have it, there will be conflicts. If the have it during the week, won't the students be in school?

The junior team (and system) was much better last year when the simply took the top players in the class instead of trying out.
