May 8, 200917 yr TJ had Fitzpatrick throwing to him last season while Coles had Favre. TJ had more yards, didn't he? Coles is definitely a downgrade. And he's on the downside of his career. Well, obviously, TJ was Fitzpatick's #1 target, and Coles was Favre's #2. I would hope the #1 would be more productive than the #2.
May 8, 200917 yr That's fine... It probably does as someone who isn't a big fan of the Bengals. But the facts are, they are finally making the right moves. You can say it was a "Hit or Miss" draft, but I don't see it not being leaps and bounds better than the previous Bengals drafts. I believe the Bengals have the right pieces in place, with a healthy #9, to be a legitimate threat... That's the big thing for me. The moves they're making, are they earth-shattering? No, but they are logical, rational moves that address the teams needs. How often in the past 18 years has that happened?

May 8, 200917 yr Well, obviously, TJ was Fitzpatick's #1 target, and Coles was Favre's #2. I would hope the #1 would be more productive than the #2. Well there you have it, they lost a #1 and replaced him with a #2... TJ could work the middle of the field, I don't see Coles doing anything like that.
May 8, 200917 yr Well there you have it, they lost a #1 and replaced him with a #2... TJ could work the middle of the field, I don't see Coles doing anything like that. TJ was a number one last year because Fitzpatrick couldn't throw it down the field. If Coles and TJ both had a legitimate QB, IMO, Coles would be the #1...
May 8, 200917 yr Well there you have it, they lost a #1 and replaced him with a #2... TJ could work the middle of the field, I don't see Coles doing anything like that. The only reason TJ was the #1 was because Fitz couldn't get the ball to Chad, due to his inability to throw it down the field, and because Chad was in and out of the lineup all year. If healthy, Chad would have easily been the #1 last year.
May 8, 200917 yr Well there you have it, they lost a #1 and replaced him with a #2... TJ could work the middle of the field, I don't see Coles doing anything like that. I fully expect Andre Caldwell to step up and be a very good WR this year.
May 8, 200917 yr Another solid move, Leonard is a very versatile player. This has been the best offseason in Cincy in quite some time.
May 8, 200917 yr I'm not forgetting anything. The Bengals do not have a very good offensive line IMO, I'm not sold on their running backs, Coles vs. Housh is a downgrade, Chad doesn't want to be there, and I'm still trying to figure out how they "drastically improved their defense". I disagree with you that Coles is a downgrade vs TJ. I liked the Coles move better than signing back TJ.
May 8, 200917 yr Well there you have it, they lost a #1 and replaced him with a #2... TJ could work the middle of the field, I don't see Coles doing anything like that. TJ never has or never will be a 1. He is one of the best 2 outs there but he couldn't get down the field like Coles will be able to. TJ will be the 1 out in Seattle but heck their 1 was a TE named John Carson this year. If you think it was bad when Ryan was here and no protection good luck in Seattle when Matt is always on his back.
May 8, 200917 yr You can find diamonds in the rough from time to time, I'm not denying that. But I would have went with a safer first round pick than Smith. He had some very bad workouts that should have raised some questions, it wasn't just the combine. Smith reminds people of Willie Anderson. If the Bengals can get 10 year plus Bengal fans will be happy.
May 8, 200917 yr  They will not come close imo. They probably won't win the Division but the will be better than people they will be.
May 8, 200917 yr Didn't he also get kicked off the team at Alabama for the bowl game? And there are reasons teams passed on Rey and Johnson. A lot of players say they want to prove those that passed on them wrong...that says nothing yet. He didn't play because he talked to an agent.
