May 11, 200917 yr .the Bengals don't know how to call plays. Most Bengals' fans agree with this. I doubt we find one Bruce Bratkowski supporter on BGP.
May 11, 200917 yr Palmer is an elite QB when he has time to throw. He doesn't move around in the pocket very well at all when pressured.Winner Winner, chicken dinner. As far as the trade is concerned, I think it was solid. As far as Coles vs. TJ, it's funny how many folks here think Coles is a better player, or at the very least not a downgrade. I couldn't possibly disagree more. As a matter of fact, this trade, if it solidifies the run game, is a major improvement. As I said in an earlier thread on a similar vein, the only way for the Bengals to improve this year is to keep Carson upright. I don't see how they can do that consistently with that line, unless they can improve the run game and allow Carson to stretch the field on first down. IMO, the Bengals have made no bonehead decisions this off season, which is a first that I can recall since I've had recollection of such. Defense is respectable, and with a healthy Rivers back should be back to similar standard, which is not elite by any stretch, but no doubt their strongest facet of the game. I think the Bengals can be a .500 club if things go well, but even with a solid draft, they are a couple of years worth of more solid decisions away from winning this division.
May 11, 200917 yr What's funny is saying that going from Housh to Coles isn't a downgrade at all. Why would I think comparing two different types of receivers as a downgrade. T j runs short slants and Coles runs more down field hence the fewer catches. I'll take more 20+ yard catches. I don't think Coles will replace T J, I think Caldwell will do that like he did when T J didn't play the last two games, and did quite well. The Bengals just added another very good receiver in Coles which will make them better than last year. Add in everybody back healthy, Bengals fans should be very excited with this off season.
