Hinson or Kelsch...who is better. I don't know, but just because you are a better shooter doesn't make you a better coach. Those who can, do... those who can't, teach!

What about Brad Cox from Pendleton County? He will be looking for a teaching job next year in a school system and has been an assistant coach for several years. Would Bracken be a good fit?

What happened to the announcement BC was to have made at the first part of the week about the hiring of Chad Persinger as Boys Basketball Coach? Done deal,etc. I know 2 or 3 people in the county might care if Jason Hinson can out shoot Coach Kelsch:rolleyes::ohbrother:, but a lot of us are still wondering who will be BC's next Coach.

They were set to make an announcement last week and then something changed, was not told what!

 

Applications were sent to the HS from the Board of Education this week. The applicants were narrowed down to 5 possible candidates and those 5 will be interviewed sometime in the upcoming week.

 

That is the info I was given this morning!

I just don't think Hinson or for that matter Persinger are particularly well thought of amongst those that are doing the hiring, guess we will soon find out

Hello, my son attends Bracken County and is an upcoming player in the program. I would like a coach who brings more than just basketball to the plate. I want someone that will teach our young men the importance of discipline, respect, and a good attitude. After doing some research and talking to other people, than I think our best choice would be Coach Miles. He definitely has the experience needed to set up a top-notch program in our school. Nothing against the other applicants, but if you weigh his experience and credentials against the other applicants, than this should be a no-brainer. Just because Bracken has been burned the last few years by out-of-town coaches does not mean that Coach Miles will do the same. He also can offer some of our better players the possiblity of college scholarships--I hear he has lots of connections at the college level. Why not give our boys the best possibility to making it to the second level? Haven't seen many of our boys varsity players going to the next level lately--even though there have been plenty with potential to at least play at junior colleges. Parents of current BCHS Polar Bears--keep your minds open and think about what is best for your boys!

You are not interested in an outsider????? Who would you prefer? Persinger? If you are a player or a parent of a player think of a couple things.... He is an excellent girls softball coach..... He will not give this up..... Do you want to share your coach????? Softball in Bracken Co. is almost year round. Basketball needs a coach that can give 110% to the boys he will be coaching.... The boys need individual training as well as team training. I can't see a coach coaching two varsity sports with a family and a teaching job having time for this.

Just hope BC gets it right this time from the get go. If you think about it Bracken County has had some of the weirdest(in lue of a better word) coaching hires in recent memory. Maybe BearFacts can help out with this. In retrospect they could have turned out to look genius as brilliant hires or the way they look now. When was the last time Bracken County hired a Coach with VARSITY Coaching experience for Boys or Girls. Wasn't Coach Hammonds an assistant at Bourbon County before Bracken?, Jay Fite Coached Girls Varsity, but no Boys experience, I don't believe. Kelsch has been a JV Coach and then there are the hires of Schiltz and Breeze, which I don't know what to say. I don't know about the Coaching hires beyond the last 6-7 years, Did Fisher have varsity coaching experience before BC? Whatever the decision, it will be debated on this board for sure.:popcorn::thumb:

The last time BCHS hired a coach (last year) you was on here saying they needed to quit hiring coaches that only use BCHS as a stepping stone. How would this hire be any different, what makes you all so sure this guy stays longer than 2 years.

Player Pride not sure who the players are that can play at the next level.................Junior college is completely misunderstood. They are filled with potential DI and high DII kids who do not have grades (see Cincinnati St. roster). As far as DIII College basketball it is not an extension of high school basketball. It is the real deal and if you look at teams like Thomas More and Mt. Saint Joe they are recruiting kids that have played against top competition (ie GCL kids). So to be perfectly honest I do not know of any kid in the past several years that could play at the next level.

The thing about playing @ the next level, if you want to play, there is a school out there at some level that will be willing to take you!

I hear interviews could start as early as Thursday, but it is looking like Friday!
