Favorite Reds Player

During the Jerry Lewis telethon in 1972 I got to speak with Johnny Bench on the phone. I was 10 years old and told him we would give $10 if he hit a homer the next night in Atlanta. He told me he had been trying to do that a long time, but he'd give it a shot.

I always went to bed and put a transistor radio under my pillow and listened to the Reds. Games back then started at 8:00p.m and my parents worked first shift so we all were in bed. The seventh inning came and JB took a 2-1 pitch out to left field, I got up running through the house, "He did it ! He did it !" You would have thought that Santa Claus had came. Recieved our pledge statement the next day. So the greatest catcher of all time has always been my favorite.

Now there was a good one. I also like Bobby Tolan, Jim Maloney, Tommy Helms and Leo Cardenas. I am glad to see another old school fan on here :thumb:.

Barry Larkin....without a doubt. My favorite player of all time in any sport.

Yes, he was a good one and a good person too. Also, I cried like a baby when Robbie got traded.

Again Pete Rose is all time favorite player, but here's a few more of my favorite

players from the 60's.

John Tsitouris,Jim Maloney,Deron Johnson,Jim O'Toole,Sammy Ellis,Tommy Harper,Garry Arrigo,Gordy Coleman,Johnny Edwards,Joey Jay,Bill Henry and there was Frank Robinson who played for the Reds 1956-65 and last but not least, the old lefthander Joe Nuxhall and still there's more, just too many to list.

Naxhall started playing for the Reds in 1944,which is before my time, but had to add him to the list. His years with the Reds ran 1944-60,1962-1966.
