May 1, 200917 yr Well either way Silva's going to kill Franklin. Destroy him. I thought we were talking about Forrest/Silva... Silva won't kill Franklin. Hendo knocked out Silva and Franklin survived in the cage with Hendo...it will go to a decision IMO and Franklin will win.

Hendo knocked out Silva and Franklin survived in the cage with Hendo...it will go to a decision IMO and Franklin will win. We were, I meant to say Forrest. My bad. It's been a long day. Yeah I agree with you there, I think Franklin will win it. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a TKO. But Forrest, not a chance.
May 1, 200917 yr Rich Franklin. UFC poster boy. He's 24-4. His only losses are to Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson. A little about those guys... Machida (14-0) - Fighting Rashad Evans for the LHW title. Silva (24-4) - Current MW champion. In the discussion for best fighter in the world and probably the best striker in the world. Henderson (24-7) - Former 183 and 205 pound PRIDE champion. The only man to hold belts in two different weight classes at the same time in PRIDE. One of the top fighters in the world. The combined records of Franklin's losses...62-11. Overrated? Ridiculous. Do I sense a UFC bias? :thumb: I have watched the fights, and it was close but he is still a product of hype. There are 2-3 of you guys that have some serious knowledge about MMA on this board. Just like a lot of the PRIDE guys records are inflated for beating some cans, or freakshow fights and the accusations of steroids and fight fixing as well as age catching up with them. They are not as good as many thought. I'm not saying that about UFC guys but its easy to debate things about fighters or whatever on a message board but I'll stand by what I say because I have probably watched and studied more MMA than anyone on here.

If that's true, you should know that Anderson Silva is anything but overrated. :idunno: He's completely dismantled some of the top middleweights in the world. I'm not saying the guys you've mentioned aren't good, but they've done nothing to prove they're as good as Silva, much less better. To each their own...
May 1, 200917 yr I'm looking forward to Kenny Florian vs. BJ Penn in August. Thinking about making the trip to Philly for that one.
May 1, 200917 yr Mousasi beat some nice MW's to win the DREAM tourney and dominated(TKO) a former K1 World GP finalist recently Hansen and Alvarez are strong chinned solid strikers who are descent in the ground game. Manhouf is a world class striker. Rich was the best fighter in a bad division, lets see how he does at LHW Id love to see the guys in the Dream LW division come to the UFC and fight their guys. That would be really awesome. But you cant really compare a LW to A. Silva. I agree with you that UFC MW division isnt very good but its still better than anyone elses. Overall thats just not a great division anywhere. Mousasi really needs to come to the UFC to test himself, I think he has a solid all around MMA game but would like to see him against the best middleweights. Im a Manhoef fan but other than his striking his game is very weak.

I'm not sure what constitutes as "serious knowledge" but I have trained for almost a year in Muay Thai kickboxing, brazilian jiu jitsu/MMA and jeet kune do. I've also been watching MMA for around 3-4 years. Anderson Silva, while he might not be the best overall fighter in the world, is not just hype. He has beat some very quality competition. But that is just my opinion...I'm not sure if it counts for much.
May 2, 200917 yr Author ^ And he just recently started "beating" them...He completely dismantled anyone in his way up into his last couple of fights. Silva is far and above the pound for pound most dominant fighter in the octagon, and comparing him to any of the guys listed above is way off base.

I just don't see him as being up there though, I think Mousasi is flat out better @ MW, BUT he could be a product of the Japanese market and the people he beat not as good as advertised.
May 2, 200917 yr I was trying to insinuate that I was kidding around with most of my last post, I didn't mean for it to sound aggressive at all. I think Anderson vs. Mousasi would be a good fight that I'd love to see. Apparently Dana White has said he is about to sign a middleweight that will blow everyone's mind, or I think that's how he put it. Maybe it will be someone who will give Silva some good comp. at mw.

Rumor is Vitor.........old Vitor vs. Anderson......I'll pay to watch that
May 3, 200917 yr Rumor is Vitor.........old Vitor vs. Anderson......I'll pay to watch that Do we have a yawning smiley? Vitor looks dominant when facing inferior competition, but almost always loses when he steps up a level. Belfort isn't going to be the guy who provided "competition" for Anderson Silva.
