What does Bishop Brossart need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Brossart is going to have the best player in the 37th district in Jacob Rieger and a solid PG in Jordan Armstrong. Will be interested to see how they fill in the rest of the pieces.

 

What is a given is that Brossart will be solid defensively and will play hard every night.

 

I see the 37th being the same this year as last year with Brossart, Campbell Co and Scott all being too close to call at this time.

Look for big contributions from sophs Fardo & Bezold this year, along with upperclassmen Morscher & Norton. I'd expect them to try and run a little more than normal this year, as they'll again not have a ton of size and no true center. Code will put emphasis on defense as always, and they should have some decent depth, although it will be mostly young.

Yes, they won the 10th region freshman tourney last year. They were led by Zach Fardo and Trevor Bezold.

Look for big contributions from sophs Fardo & Bezold this year, along with upperclassmen Morscher & Norton. I'd expect them to try and run a little more than normal this year, as they'll again not have a ton of size and no true center. Code will put emphasis on defense as always, and they should have some decent depth, although it will be mostly young.

 

Fardo is a stud and Bezold is a work horse.

 

Fardo is going to have to continue to work on his dribbling/driving ability, we know he can shoot from deep though.

 

Bezold might have a little bit tougher time adjusting to varsity play. Kid works like crazy though.

 

Should be interesting to see how Hinkel develops. All through grade school I thought that kid had some really good hands, just raw on his footwork.

They have a great web page, I think Mustang runs it. I've seen them play this year and they do have a lot of potential. Thier record was 16-9 though. The big Kramer kid played football and came a long way from grade school days and could help with some size which they lack from the upper classes. Fardo took it to the rack on the games I saw, Bezold is just a beast, Hinkle, Trentman, Brown were all over 6' as frosh and all could contribute over the next few years. I've also heard they may have another guard come back that took the year off this past year. He could help the team.

Nice freshmen team with a lot of pieces to the puzzle. Don't know how many of them will be ready to contribute on the varsity level next season. Really like Jacob Riegers game and Armstrong and Morscher are solid as well.

I work hard to keep fresh, interesting stuff on the BMustangs website. Besides it gives me something to do every day between 12midnight and 3am - lol!

 

The 16-9 record might be somewhat deceiving. Coach Mike Schack is very generous with playing time for the first two-thirds of the season, and come tournament time, puts his best team out there and plays for keeps.

 

Also, our teams traditionally get better as the season progresses. For example, both the Campbell County varsity and the Camel freshmen handed our guys their hats back in the Crosstown series back in December, but both Mustangs teams avenged those losses in the district tournament.

 

These freshmen still have a lot of physical growing up to do, which is a good thing, they will continue to get better and better over the next four years. They have a nice 8th grade class coming in behind them which will only contribute to their dept during their careers.

 

Whether any of the present greenies can contribute to the varsity effort next year is yet to be seen. Jacob Rieger will be among the very elite players in the 10th Region next season, and Jordan Armstrong is a natural leader who simply refuses to lose. The aforementioned Justin Morscher should fill a spot vacated by a graduating senior, as should Travis Norton.

 

How things will actually pan out will depend largely on performances at open gyms and scrimmages this summer.

Yes they did, as stated before they won the Freshman regional tourney. I listened to Mustang broadcast the game. He did a excellent job as always.

Playing the regular season and getting better as the season progress is what it is all about. Tourney play is what really counts.

Rieger and Armstrong are the two names I remember the most from the Freshman tourney finals game. I wasn't at the game, but thanks to Mustangs vivid broadcast, you know that this BB freshman team has some very talented and special players.

Rieger does a nice job on the interior but they will miss Wolfer as he gave them a physical presence underneath. Brossart didn't go very deep last season and lost a lot thru graduation. Should be interesting to see who steps up and earns the minutes.
