April 26, 200917 yr Whoa....Nick isn't actually my son....when I say my boy, I mean we are close, I am very close with his family....sorry. Had D-1 talent coming out of Trinity. With a little help, this young man should have gotten a scholarship. Great kid, great family one of the hardest working most focused kids I have ever been around.

Looks like he has decent speed, but what I really liked about him was how well he ran his patterns, he caught the ball (a big plus for UK receivers), covered the ball well in traffic and he runs extremely hard with everything he has. I really liked what I saw from him and he really stepped up in this scrimmage. IMHO, he is the reason that Hartline had more passing yards than Fidler. On a sidenote, estimated attendance was over 20,000!!! 2nd most ever for a spring scrimmage and more than double last year's 8,500 attendance mark. Not to sellout capacity like Ohio St, Bama, UGA, etc, ... but getting better all the time!
April 27, 200917 yr Although I think UK is really improving their talent in many places, I think WR need to be a place of emphasis moving forward. UK has gone the route of getting "athletes" who they THINK can play college WR. See Roark, Fields, Macaskill, Adams, even Cobb, etc. Hopefully as they continue to gain ground on the recruiting trail, they can start getting the stud high school players who actually play WR as their primary position.

Second-guessing very call and telling everyone in hearing distance that they asked them to be a coach and he turned them down. While I am old enough to realize that most of what he said was crap, it was a spring scrimmage and he took the whole event way to seriously.

One situation on 3rd & 1, ... the white team ran a counter but the back went the wrong way, by the time Hartline and the back adjusted, the hole had closed. It was a miscommunication and error, but had the back went the right way, the hole was there for about a 2-3 yard pickup and the first down. This guy behind me started hollering "Bad call Joker, bad call. That took too long to develop." Well of course it did when the back goes the wrong way. This guy obviously had no idea what he was talking about or he would have seen what the play was supposed to be. There were others No matter the sport, there are always the know it alls who most assuredly should be coaches on the field (at least in their minds). I have gotten better over the years at blocking them out and that has helped me to continue my enjoyment of the game. They still get annoying, but what can you do.
April 28, 200917 yr Author How did Winston Guy play? Pretty good. He was right on Cobb when he caught his 2nd TD pass, but Fidler's pass was just perfect and Guy just missed tipping it away.
April 28, 200917 yr IMHO, Fidler threw the ball much better than Hartline. He also did not seem to get rattled too much. Hartline floated too many and seemed to panic early on. He played much better later in the game. Cobb showed why he is going to be a bigtime playmaker. He was solid today. I thought Alphonso ran hard. John Conner looks to have improved his quickness. Burden (#66) at the DE position really played well, especially late. He was getting heat on the QB. I am glad to see Fidler played well. It's about time. He has the talent, he just has to get his head out of his rear end.
April 28, 200917 yr Author Has the kicking game improved at all? The loss of Masthay is huge. They let different kickers kick off and one of them put a beautiful kick in the end zone, but I didn't catch the name. The others did not come close. Ryan Tydlacka, the sophomore from Trinity did a good job punting, put one out of bounds at the 7. Seibert missed a 50 yard FG but had the distance, just off to the left. No missed PAT's, at least one made FG.
