April 25, 200917 yr You said they HAVE one of the worst defenses in the league...I'm just saying that wasn't the case last year. You can argue about Marvin all day, but it's a fact that their defense was what kept them in the games that they were in last year and the offense was inept. Well, I guess we will see. But, I think if you are expecting them to have a top 20 defense again you will be sorry.

Mike Zimmer is the best DC Marvin has had here. It was fun watching the Bengals Defense last year. With the 11 picks the Bengals have they will fill some major holes they have. I think this defense gets better than they were last year!

Cincinnati has made the playoffs 8 total times in franchise history. 8 in 40+ years. 8. Since the Bengals have been a franchise: Cleveland has made 13 trips to the playoffs The Ravens have 5 visits to the playoffs since 95 when they moved there, and a superbowl. You could flip the two around, but Browns records count for the Browns now so. Be the judge The Steelers can't even be compared to the Bengals, but have made the playoffs 24 times, winning 6 Superbowls. Jacksonville started a franchise in 95 and has been to the playoffs 6 times. Carolina started a franchise in 95 and has 4 apperances The Lions have made 9 playoff trips since the Bengals have been a franchise. THE LIONS! Their 4 NFL titles also save them from being a worse franchise overall than the Bengals. Recent problems definitely make the Lions the most embarrassing though. Long the punching bag of the NFL, the Tampa Bay Buccanneers have made 10 trips since 1979 and won a Superbowl. Why show all these teams? Well, every year, maybe not on this board, but somewhere, I hear Bengals fans telling me "this year will be different, we will be good". History shows that they will not. The Bengals are arguably, the worst franchise in the NFL when you look at their entire body of work for the duration of the franchise. Most years they don't even factor in the playoff race, let along compete for a division, conference, or league title. And statistically good years on one side of the ball, lead to fans thinking the next year will be better. Take the year they made the playoffs. The next year, people were acting like they could compete for the Super Bowl. I'm not saying on here because I really don't pay that much attention to the Pro Board during the season, but the Bengals fans that I know personally definitely act like that. It is fine to be a fan, for instance, I think the Miami Hurricanes might actually turn the corner this year and make the ACC title game. That is me being a fan, they most likely won't get there though.
April 25, 200917 yr If a player finds himself in a new venue, I have no problem with him showing excitement and singing the praises of his new opportunity. When a player publicly bashes his former team, it tells me far more about the player than the team he left.
