Mason County Sophmore Josh Harris,Remember this name he will be a stud.Most people might not know who he is yet because he ran behind another good one last year in Thompson.

 

He'll have a solid offensive line in front of him, too.

Harlan will need a Perfect Storm to compete in 5A. I look for things to just keep getting better and better there. They have all kinds of numbers and Larkey will develop some players.

 

Coach Larkey took a lot of interest in middle school talent as soon as he was hired. That's always a good sign.

 

I believe we have enough talent in Harlan County to cover any type of weather!

Chad played a lot last year didn't he? I recall hearing his name quite a bit.

Quite a bit. His stat sheet shows 70+ carries for 679 yards.

Thomas Varney from Belfry is a good player.

Varney from Belfry. Runs in the 4.5 range. Despite weighing in at around 160-170 he benches close to 300, squats over 400, and power cleans 235-245. He will be much more explosive this year, compared to last. Might have to carry the load, if not the truck for Belfry next year.

That is one of the things he did at Rockcastle that helped establish them as a consistent winner. Kids coming to the high school already knowing his terminology, style of play, expectations, fundamentals, etc. He developed consistency as he understood that you have to have a solid feeder program and Rock did that. I assume that Harlan County will see the same thing. That is also how Chuck Smith built the Boyle County program for the long haul. Build the feeder program and the kids are better prepared when they reach the high school level.

Chad is a very good athlete who should shine and be a real go to guy for the Panthers this fall.

I will also say that Zack Roark from Mccreary Central is a top 5 back for 2009. He is strong, quick and very hard to tackle and behind a very much improved "O" line he will be even more dangerous.

Fugate rushed for 3,052 yards and 36 touchdowns this past year. Fugate has college offers from Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, Stanford and Troy State.

I really like the potential this kid shows. He doesn't juke or dance around a lot. A North South runner is what Dudley likes to see! This kid should be fun to watch the next 3 years! :thumb:
