April 16, 200917 yr When I was a little kid Tony Delk was my absolute favorite player. Kentucky is finally turning back into the team that I remember when I was a little grade schooler. The last game that I truly was excited and went nuts about was the UK/Michigan St elite 8 game. That's been about it in the last 10 years. These two people that Cal is bringing in truly brings back awesome memories and I just hope that I can feel be filled with that same excitement this year that I was back in the late 90s. Even though my memory was a little fuzzy back then I still remember going to school and we would have discussions about who are favorite UK player was. The teachers would not even teach when UK was playing in the NCAA tournament, she would instead let us watch the game. Our whole state was in love with UK at that time and I'm hoping I can see that return. All signs are pointing way up for Cal so far. I haven't been this excited about UK in forever and I truly believe John Calipari knows what it means to be at the University of Kentucky. :thumb:
April 16, 200917 yr On his coaching show, Cal shed some light on Delk and Padgett. According to what I got from his comments, they are starting at the bottom of the ladder. They cannot coach on the floor, they cannot recruit. He said they would be checking curfews and things like that.
April 16, 200917 yr Very good move on Cal's part. Padge had hinted at this when I spoke with him a couple of weeks ago. My husband talked with him Monday at the Joe and Denny golf scramble in Louisville. He hadn't heard yet, but was really hoping he would be added to the staff. On the news tonight Coach Cal said it may be assistant equipment manager, but it would be a start in helping both Tony and Scott establish thier coaching career.
April 16, 200917 yr How about Josh Harrellson? How about AJ Stewart? What the team lacked last year was a point guard... Neither of them showed an ability to consistently knock down the 3 pointer.

Will that pay even pay well enough to make this his only job? I just don't see an "assistant equipment manager" making anywhere near what a person with a four year degree could make.

April 17, 200917 yr This is great news. Coach Calipari is amazing. He knows this will help a great deal with recruiting as well. Bringing in to former NBA players, who went through UK's system and made it to the NBA as well. Excellent move.

I don't think he ever saw himself as having a 15 year NBA career, so I'd also think he probably didn't spend all of his NBA pay checks, and they're not exactly small. BTW, I'm sure he still get's some endorsement or advertisement stuff as well.
